how obsessive are you?

with obsessive compulsive disorder, you hear of people washing their hands 20 or 30 times, before they are satisfied, or leaving the house and coming back to check the stove and that the doors are locked. Let's say you are going out for the evening, you are in a rush you get in your car and off you go, if you don't have a car assume you have already started walking and you have walked at least 3 blocks, remember you are in a hurry to get to where you are going. suddenly a thought comes to you, you don't remember if you locked the door do you continue going to your destination, or do you go back home and check, knowing full well you might be late for your engagement, or miss something important that is happening at that time where you are going,

If I was in that much of a hurry and had already started to my destination, the sudden thought that I might've forgotten to lock the door wouldn't plague me enough to go back and check. Being on time would be more important to me. If I thought I had left something simmering on the stove I'd have to go back and make sure all the burners were off and the water wasn't running and the cat had food. Actually, if I thought I might have a problem remembering little things before leaving the house, I'd have a checklist to make sure I took care of everything before leaving. Yes, I'd remember to look at my checklist. :D

Just for a door lock? I leave it. I hardly ever lock mine anyway. I am more likely to obsess about a turned on stove or other appliance. I usually talk myself out of my fears, though, and go enjoy myself.

If it were me Id just keep walking. My house is kinda back and in the middle of no where and I have dogs around as well. But in general, my daughters father has a very bad case of OCD and he checks things constantly before we go anywhere.
