I've seen a lot of Street Signs, some were cute, and some were funny. A funny Sign in Florida is "Two Egg." There's an RV park in Texas with some really cute and appropos Street names like," Almost There, Unemployed, Way Out, Rockin Chair, and Lazy Daze! Our Street in Ontario Canada, was named after our family because My grandfather bought a farm on that street in 1905, and it's been in the family ever since. There's only one Street Sign I really detest and that is, "Dead End." Please share your funny, or hated Street Sign names. I wonder who thinks these names up?

In Fiji I went to a market and saw a sign that said 'no spitting, keep moving'. Now that made me laugh. I hate the place name 'Pratt's Bottom' and I think the street name 'Love Lane sounds really romantic. An unpleasant sounding place name is Mock Beggar. I can only guest what went on there in the past. A funny and nice place name is Westwood Ho! Yes it does have an exclamation mark on the end of its name. I really liked reading about the street signs in your discussion and it is interesting that one was named after your grandfather.

The sign seems to imply that if your moving your not spitting! That is different! It must have been written by a woman.

The origin of the phrase Mock Beggar isn't what it may appear. The term means inhospitable land or inhospitable buildings. No mocking of beggars that I am aware of.

Not a street name but here in England (Hertfordshire) we have two villages close to each other. One called Ugley the other Nasty. Some years ago the local paper was able to print: "Ugley girl marries Nasty man". Glad it wasn't me.

The Paper would possibly get sued if this happened in America! Rather a nasty write-up, from my point of view!

Possibly but it is strictly factual. I don't think that any court here would entertain a suit.

One of the funniest cross street names I came across was in Windsor, near the university. Sandwich and Chewitt Streets. lol. I should've gotten a picture.
