Why is it that on your birthday or at Christmas time or at some other event of our life that we always get that one really wierd gift from some distant quirky relative? Usually the price tag is still attached and its a gift that we don't need and will never use? Or we have a relative that is the height of all family stories for being eccentric in some way. An auntie that has 20 cats and sits them at the table with party hats or a cousin three times removed that collects used Windex bottles. Do you have any quirky relatives like that?

Oh my Mother in law of all people!!! She would buy (now gives money) the kids clothes that were either tooo small or just barely fit... Hows that for knowing your grand kids??? she would buy us.. like a stuffed chicken?!?!? okay... Of course she is the lady that has the rabbit and squirell running around loose in her house!

no as in a decoration thing... something to collect more dust in my over crammed house! LOL well the squirell started out as a sick one from outside... and she has tamed it... totally weird in my eyes! LOL

A stuffed chicken? As in a chicken ready to be cooked? That is hilarious. Is the squirrel tamed?

My mother in law used to send me cuddly toys for Christmas. We had only just got married so I didn't want to upset her buy raising my eyebrows about this. My wife was talking to her brother one time, he said that he couldn't work out why their mother kept sending their young son such adult gifts - books, cologne etc. Turns out that she kept getting our names mixed up. Our names are totally different! Still at least he is a he and not a she. I dread to think what I would have done with all those dolls and make up. My other brother in law and his wife have no children and travel with literally hundreds of teddy bears. They are both well into their 40s.

Eventually my wife had a word with her and I started to receive "normal" presents.

I had one such aunt who when offered tea in cups refused to drink tea in them and same tea we used to put in a steel glass she used to drink happily. Thankfully I have never received socks as gifts from my relatives.

LOL. Why is it that those kind of relatives always want to give socks? I can understand why yours are in the back of your drawer.
