How Green Day saved the record industry

I've been saying for years that the recording industry's problems with downloading and file sharing would not exist if artists actually put together a great product to sell. 'American Idiot' is perhaps the greatest example of how to convince people to actually buy a CD. I own exactly 1 Green Day album and I bought it because I liked a few of the tracts. I take that back....I loved them. They convinced me to purchase the entire album. The RIAA should simply stop prosecuting those getting bits and pieces of compilations and encourage artists to put together awesome, inspiring music. Once you are guaranteed to be completely satisfied by every song on an album, you no longer will have need to make a mix tape... ...and profits will return like those of yesteryear.
