How do I make french fries with potatoes at home? Does anyone know an easy recipe?

Cut up potatoes into French fries. Drop them into a pot of boiling water. As soon as water comes back to a boil, remove the potatoes and place them in cold water. When potatoes are cooled, drain them thoroughly and place on a cookie sheet to freeze. After they are frozen, break the potato sticks apart and pack them in freezer bags. Remove as many as needed at one time. Drop in hot fat and fry until golden brown. These keep and cook beautifully.

wow.. it sounds troublesome. Is there an easier and faster way? Beside from buying from the stores, of course. =P

hi cool dude, well then i think it is okay to fry it just cut it into fries. start frying it on high then lower the flame so the potatoes will fry slowly and it will be crunchy and not saggy.

Easy and complex. Even though it has so many steps - each of them is simple. I guess I'll try it and see. Today I just dunked it in some ice water and then fried it with some salt and pepper - was quite nice!

The first ingredient is potato, some salt, oil. you peel the potato, you slice them, wash and put them into salt solution for sometime while the oil is on fire. then after sometime you fetch some into the simmering oil and stir from time to time. for about 5minutes you can taste one to see the level of dryness. for soft one. i often allow them in the oil for about 5minutes if the temperature is about 50% hot if more less time and the vice versa. the salt solution is optional.

The salt solution is innovative. What does it do to the potatoes?

French fries are very easy. You just cut a potato to the size french fries you want (thick or skinny). Heat up some vegetable oil in a small pot. Then once the grease is hot you throw them in. Let them stay until they are crispy, then get them out and put them on a paper towel to soak up the extra oil. Salt them and you are done!!!

I saw what another poster does to save the potatoes and that is a very good idea!!! But the cold water isn't really necessary. The only time I use cold water is if I am cutting a lot of potatoes. I put the cut potatoes in the water while I am cooking so they don't become black from being in the air. But if you are only cooking a few, you don't have to worry about it, because they will be in the oil before they have a chance to turn.
