Discussions started JUST to get responses? What do you think?

I just answered a discussion about people who stay home and work online. She wanted to know if working online made us lazy. I've seen questions on race, and politics. One gender being stronger than the other. I Could go on. Do you think these individuals star these discussions for a response count? Or does it just work out that way?

I think posting discussions that motivates responses is something most people are somewhat guilty of. I mean, why would you want to post a discussion that you knew would generate no response at all? Whether, its for the money or just to hear from your friends, isn't illiciting a response what we are all looking for? At the same time, I have seen posts where someone might ask something like, "I used pink fingernail polish on my toenails today. Do you ever do that?" Those are the kind of discussions I personally won't answer and don't find beneficial, but perhaps some people do.

Sometimes i am so amused about this postings, about this questions..I think it's for money, why not? Maybe you want to learn something from these discussions first and make money in the same time. You're wise.I read in one post about the quality of this discussions..Who knows?

I'm sure quite a few people start a discussion JUST to get responses, it helps aid them in their earnings. I simply don't respond to discussions of such.

Sorry comes back to add: I seen the discussion you refered to in the opening of this discussion. They have 95 responses, so I would say it was pretty smart on their part.

I completely agree with you as I have also seen the same trend here. there are few witty people who starts lots of discussions with catchy subject lines. in a day there are hundreds and 200 of responses. i guess they are also getting paid more. But there is actually nothing in the matter. may be its another way of earning here.

I think some people that post a whole bunch of these discussions and not any other kind do it strictly for just what you said, getting responses. But, there have been quite a few times I ve seen people post these types of discussions and the way they posted them was pretty thought provoking and you could tell it was for the purpose of being a constructive discussion.~D

Well, I think there's a certain sport in try to see what discussions can get the most responses. A bit of competition, too. Generally, I prefer to post questions that interest me instead of just putting up some silly thing to get posts.

Im new to MyLot and I was excited to be able to start discussions about just what I wanted to talk about but didnt get nearly any response, or response that had nothing to do with the discussion at hand, but then i thought, well i will search for the discussions i want, and that has worked out for me and people send you their comments personally, im still not sure how the earning thing works. Still, I generally do want to have good discussions to see what others are talking about and maybe its just a matter of the questions not being placed in the right places and just randomly placed (im guessing from my own experience). How long ago did MYLOT get set off, when you were talking about it being pepsi/coke questions?

Yes, i am sure it still happens but nothing like as much as it once did. We seem to have got away from the pepsi/coke type of discussions , we even dont see the whats your favourite flavour of gum? type of question. All in all i think its a better site as a result

Yeah sometimes people just post to get replies. Other times.. people just post to actually talk about a subject. But yeah I think you're right some people ask do you like cats? and then people say yet or no lol

I have seen a few discussions that I think have been started with the intention for getting to people so that they will respond to it and earn the person who started it money. I usually do not respond to the ones that are trying to start stuff to make a few extra pennies.
