Teenagers, a warning to parents. I saw something very very sad today

I was sitting at a stop light and noticed I had the same truck as the one beside me. There were a bunch of young girls in the truck, looked younger than 18. They were all laughing and then the passenger put something to her mouth and put a lighter over it. I could see in her hand a small pipe and she passed it to the driver. I was so shocked and couldnt take my eyes off them. The driver who now had the pipe in her hand then noticed me looking and poked the passenger that I was staring. Windows were all up so I couldnt hear anything. The really sad part was both of them looked at me then started laughing hysterically and drove off.
I felt a great pain for their parents. They were smoking that pipe like professionals. I can only wonder what was in the pipe. So many thoughts ran thru my head I didnt notice the light had changed. What is wrong with teenagers today? Not only smoking but behind the wheel of the car like it was a daily thing. Not a care in the world. I cant help but feel I could have done something. I just went home and kissed my son. What would you have done?

Being under the influence is a danger to others on the road as well as themselves. I would have tried my darndest to get the license plate. Then given it it and a description of what I saw to the police. At least some action could have been taken. My sister was hit by a 17 year old drunk driver when she was 9. Changed things for her forever. She wasn't in a car, she was on the sidewalk. I sure hope that someone would have done it if they have noticed. You must have felt helpless. The world has changed alot. Sorry you had to see it.All you can do is teach your son. And I my daughter. They will hopefully make the world a better safer place.

You are absolutely right in everything you said. 17 and drunk? What a shame and waste. When I was growing up the things we worried about were grades and new clothes. I really didnt realize exactly what they were doing until they started laughing. If you had seen how young these girls looked; I did feel helpless; I froze and will never forget my hesitation. Sorry to hear about your sister. Did the driver get any type of sentence or help?

Those are the thoughts what went thru my mind. How can this happen? I just cant explain it all the thoughts running thru my mind. For god sakes, they were kids. They didnt even look old enough to drive. They all had pigtails. It brings tears to my eyes thinking about it.
