do you have a digital camera? Do you like it if you do?

I have a 3 year old Kodak digital camera and I hate it. It has so very little storage for starters. I think I can take 30 seconds of video or about 12 pictures...this is really not too useful at all. I could get a memory card I guess, but I haven't. I probably won't. Mostly for reason #2 I hate my camera: it goes through batteries like crazy. It will run on the expensive lithium photo batteries for 6-7 times of taking pictures. I tried AA batteries and it worked 4 times using it before the batteries died. I have tried all brands, Rayovac actually seems to be the winner outlasting the pink energizer bunny and duracell...(what ever happened to the energizer bunny anyways?) Reason #3 is I find it annoying to have to find the cable to plug into the camera & the computer to tranfer the pictures. So even though I have one, I hardly use it. I can fall back on my camera phone, our scanner, my laptop's webcam, and of course good old fashioned film! Though it takes me eons to get anything developed. :) So, do you have a digital camera? Have any suggestions on a new one for me?

I have a digital camera that I really like. It's less than a year old, and I think it cost around $150 (it was a gift, so I'm not sure). It uses a flash card, and can hold dozens of pictures and videos. The videos are complete with sound. The camera also has a digital voice recorder, and it comes with 20 games. You can transfer pictures from the camera to a PC with a USB cable or a card reader. A couple of pictures I took with it are in my myLot photos. They were taken as I was driving down the highway, but I think they turned out pretty good. I know there are digital cameras out there that cost a lot less, so you might want to do some research before you buy, but I am quite happy with this one.

Oh yeah. The battery is rechargeable, and it comes with a charger.

Those sound like some interesting features - not sure if I would need the games too! But if it was around $150 it sounds like a good deal!

Aside from brochures that you can get from retailers when you finally decide to buy your new digital camera, you could ask those sales attendant and hopefully, they would know what you would be asking in regards to the digital camera products that they might be selling as well as the recommendations that they could suggest, quality, feature and also, your budget. They should, more or less, try to make a sale so they really have to be very accomodating with your inquiries. About your three year old camera, get a compatible memory card for it so that you can still use it. Get rechargeable batteries with high mAh so it would last longer than those sold and can only be used once.

That's nice to hear ^_^ Just use it as much as you can and if you really find it difficult, you can simply set it aside or leave it for those who might use it in the future ^_^ Kids, charity.. those kinds of things :)

I have a Kodak 6.0 megapixels and I love it. I have a memory card that will hold almost 900 pictures. I bought my camera from ebay. I got the camera, printer dock, set of paper and ink, camera bag, tripod, 1 GB memory card, extra rechargeable batteries and charger all for $150 including shipping, and it was all brand new in the box. I love it.

I love my digital camera! I actually had a Kodak EasyShare to start with, a basic $100 camera, and I took over 5,000 pictures with it! (Not all at one time!) One tip that I found useful was using rechargable batteries and a memory card. I now have a 7.2 Megapixel Samsung digital camera and it takes very good pictures. With any digital camera however you will have to use a plug to plug it into your computer - unless you have a memory card then you can get a special flash drive that you put the memory card into the flash drive and stick it in the USB part of your computer - either way you have to do something to upload the pictures. I would recommend a Canon digital camera because they have the best quality pictures. But you have to learn about the settings on them so its not the most simple camera to use.

I may try the rechargeable batteries before I give up on it...I don't mind a lot of techy settings...I have seen a couple of wireless cameras now, i may explore that option...thanks for the response!

Hello.. Guess both of us had bad experience with Kodak. I, myself had two kodak digital cameras and im not so satisfied with the picture quality. As of the moment, im searching for my next camera. I talked with pro and friends, most of them advised canon and nikon. Both are of the same quality with the latter as more expensive. I am more inclined to choose canon. If you are more of the design I would suggest the canon digital IXUS 860 IS. Its sleeky and the best feature, the LCD is 3" with a full black design cover at the back. I would also suggests the powershot A650, if you are more of the shooting angle. The design is nice though its a little bit bulky. Regarding your concerns: 1) internal memory--most of the cameras has really limited storage capacity. Its the reason i guess of the popping out of so wide variety of memory cards. You can find cheap memory cards and some stores give them as freebie for the cameras. 2) Battery life-- there are saving techniques for battery like minimal usage of flash during daytime or the review or playback of videos. The IXUS 860 goes with the kit the rechargeable li-ion battery and the charger. As to the A650, 4 AA size batteries are included but im not sure if its rechargeable or not. Maybe you can find rechargeable batteries with the charger at a reasonable price in your place. 3) Hassle to connect from your camera to your pc for printing purposes-- the solution is PictBridge technology. Both cameras are pictbridge, which means you can directly connect your camera to the printer that must supports pictbridge as well. Hope the information i provided could help you to choose the camera that best suits your need. Goodluck to both of us!

those are some good tips - i too am hearing good things about canon...for me the batteries are the most crucial, i can't stand having to constantly change them! Thanks for the response!

Almost any good brand new digital camera will be better than what you have. They all use memory cards now instead of cables (and have for over 8 years actually, my first digital camera used compact flash). I currently have a Nikon CoolPix S5 as my little point and shoot. It sounds like you're looking only at point and shoot cameras, so I'll just describe this one for you. It has fairly good battery life. It's rechargeable Li-ion so at least you'll never have to buy more unless it ever goes bad. I've taken about 5,000ish photos on it so far. It has excellent features, and now would only cost you like $100 (when I got it, it was $300ish). The amount of photos is limited by the memory card you put in it. On a 1GB card, this is a 6 megapixel camera so I can typically take nearly 500 photos. You can't put one of those new high speed 8GB cards in this camera, but you can always carry extra cards with you. I buy 1GB cards for less than $10 a piece easily, usually around $5. My mom has a Canon PowerShot Digital Elph and I also really like that. The picture quality is not as good as my Nikon generally, but it is very easy to use.

I have a Sony Digicam with a 7.2 Megapixel on it, which also stores photos with a 1Gig memory. It has a built-in battery on it, which also comes along with it's own charger. I could use it almost everyday, as long as the batteries are still working. Just do some checking on other units available, for sure you'll find something that'll suit your taste.

Hello! I have a Samsung digital camera and I love it. The only thing I don't like is, like you, it goes through batteries a lot. I enjoy though the fact that once I take a picture I can always delete it if it doesn't come out exactly like I wanted it to and then I retake the picture. Have a great day! SheliaLee

Yes, vera, I think the answer is gonna be, that the camera is a dinosaur, I had one like that , also! Technology is progressing so fast , that a more recent camera won't have the problem with the batteries, and most of them have a lot of storage, I know because my daughter has a good one!

i actually saw a $70 "little kid" camera - you have to buy a memory card for it, but even that seems to be better than what I have now! Things sure do get out of date fast!

I have two digital cameras. The first one I bought was in 2002. It is a good one. By the end of last year, I bought a new one which is much more better. It is similar with DSLR and it takes very good photos. I can take videos according to the size of the storage card. I am very satisfied with it.

i have a Kodak too and it works perfect for me, It has 7.1 mega pixels, i got a 2 GB memory card which is awesome never end taking pictures, It also has a lil battery to recharge and it last forever, the screen on the back is really big, it has many options for pictures; like black and white, sepia, at night, movement and others.. It is a good camera and it wasn't really expensive. Canon has good cameras too but they are more expensive. hope you can find a good camera

i have nikkon coolpix Digital camera since last 2 years. i am using it extensively, I like it as its very handy, can take it anywhere, quality of picture also good. i have had problems with Memory card intially, but than i changed the card problem is over, Now i have two memory cards instead of one. And two set of back up batteries, that ways i can take as many pictures as possible, and look over them to refresh my memory later.

I had a real hard time giving in to buy a digital camera. I had a professional Minolta slr film camera that took really great pictures. I studied photography for about a year and had ambitions of becoming a professional photographer. But I was to busy doing other things. Well after ten years of being used a lot the auto focus mechanism wore out and the camera need to be replaced. I really wanted to stick with a professional style camera but could not afford it. So I got a high end point and shot. It is a Sony Cybershot DSC-H7 and I would recomend it to anyone, It does have a high learning curve but once you know how to use it, it is great. I can take over two hundred pictures and not worry about the battery dieing. It also takes picture in 1080 Full HD and has video capabilities although I hae not tried that yet. The only problem with it is that a backup battery costs $50 but if you take a lot of pictures it is well worth it. And they are rechargable so you will always have a battery on hand.

I plan to get a new digital someday as well. I wouldnt have any clue what to look for though. My friend has an awesome digital.

I have a 2 year old digital camera and I still love it. Since the storage is removable, I can take pics and vidoes without worrying too much about space. I also use rechargeable ni-mh batteries because they have more power and they won't be wasted after use.

We actually have a couple now after not having one for a couple of years, someone gave my husband their old one, which still works great, he passed that one on my daughter and bought himself a new one with the stimulas money. My daughter loves her camara and takes it everywhere with her. Since it is digital she can take as many pictures as she wants.

I've been thru two cameras. Kodak 3.1 and I'm on a Kodak 6.1. My model is a Kodak easy share Z650, I've upgraded the memory card to a 1 gig. At 6.1 M.P I'm able to take 530 pictures total. I use rechargeable AA batteries. Top of the line!!! First battery type Lenmar 2300mAh, second is Energizer 2500mAh rating I get from 75 to 80 pictures per charge. I have a few different types of chargers my favorite is the Kodak NI-Mi rapid battery Charger. I found both cameras on e-bay, first one paid $54.00. 2nd about $200.00 new in box. Now I want a Nikon or cannon.. 10 M.P pro series about $800.00 camera base only, lens extra as with everything else. I've seen on E-Bay for about $1,000 with everything, but I can't afford now. Time for you to upgrade a little. there's a lot of sites you can get reviews before you buy them? Amazon.com, ect...
