I had only one New Year's resolution this year and that was to become a better writer here at myLot. I said I wanted to write better quality discussions but this has not happened. More then ever my discussions have no to just a few responses. Are my topics just plain boring? Are they of extreme poor quality? I find here at myLot that some people post about their regular lives and receive many posts and others post about world concerns and also receive many posts. What do I do wrong? Could it be this is just a hit and miss co incidence on myLot? I have to admit I made a commitment to write quality post but have not put the time into making sure that happens. I don't think I know how to. What actually makes for a quality post? Do you have any pointers for me?

CoffeAnyone, I've never thought of your discussions as not being quality. The ones I've participated in have been very good, though I do think it's been a while since I've responded to you. My life is a little crazy right now. I went to look at the discussions you've started recently, and I didn't see anything WRONG with them. I think it's often just a matter of hitting the right time with your discussions, and having supportive friends. I know most of my discussions do fairly well because so many of my friends respond to them, but when I post discussions on topics my friends aren't that interested in, I don't do all that well either. It's just a matter of people who would be interested happening to find your post. Sorry to hear that you've been having a hard time getting responses, but don't lose hope!

I felt the same way although I am fairly new to theLot but I am starting to think that myLot is still in need of improvement in the sense that you mention that its hard to get responses on the topics that you are interested in. I think theirs not the organization that connects topics to interests or maybe the interest are far too broad. I think this will improve greatly and cant wait for it to happen because their is alot of discussions on here that i have enjoyed and love the freedom of starting my own. The everyday topics add a nice element because some take you surprise and get you thinking 'oh, i was wondering that!'

You are right; MyLot is a work in process they are always improving themselves and I am sure they will continue to do so. MyLot is a really good site. I need to put more thought into my discussions and see what happens then. I remember when I only had 45 behind my name. In the beginning I mostly responded to discussions then wrote them. Now I try to do a little of both. Enjoy and thanks for your time.

Well, I am not sure how many of your Discussions I have read and responded too so far this yr. but I do know I have a lot of Discussions I have started with only a couple of posts back in them while others have a lot. You really never know how much you will receive unless you give it a try at first. Never give up trying and continue to give it your best. I still continue to enjoy being a member here in myLot everyday I am here.

Don't be down, CoffeeAnyone. I, myself, doesn't receive so many posts when I create my own discussions. It's just a coincidence I believe and there's nothing serious about that. :) Just do your best and God will do the rest.

True, all we can do is to be the best we can be. At least if we try our best we can look back with no regret.

I think it's different for each person. What is quality for me may not be quality for others. I don't always receive a lot of responses too, but I never let that bother me because my posts are original, they may be silly, shallow or whatever but they are mine so if people don't find them interesting enough they don't have to respond really. I remind myself not to respond to discussions that break the rules only because it's not worth my time since the post will be deleted and so will my response. Many of us know which ones are those.

I don't believe it's your writing ability. My experience has been that posting a discussion on myLot is hit or miss. I've only had one discussion warrant close to 75 responses. It took me forever to respond to each one. This is unusual as my discussions don't get many responses either. I keep plugging along and find it's easier to respond. I do ok with the earnings aspect by simply responding. Sorry, but I really don't have any pointers for you. Some of it is timing also. I am so far behind on discussions that I started from the first of the month this time and am trying to work myself forward to the current date. Good luck and don't give up, carolbee
