Do you adjust well to change?

I hate change. Within the next 6 months my life is going to change drastically. Well to me it is drastic as I don't like change. After it happens I like it but I stress out in the meantime. Do you look forward to changes in your life or dread them?

I court change. I woo it. I encourage it. Welcome it. Eagerly anticipate it. Do I make myself clear? I skip and pirouette over them as though they were stepping stones across the river of life.

Thank you whywiki and Hatley, for your uplifting and refreshing comments to my uplifting and refreshing response hahahaha! But yeah, it's like dancing, and I don't think I'm the only one to call it the 'dance of life'... as a dancer, when the music changes you have to almost change ahead of it or be left standing there feeling (and looking) like steve martin in the jerk. I sit here and look back on some of the changes in my life... some of the moves from one house to another or one city to another, have been the fodder for many stories that still can have us laughing or crying today, years later. But every one of them, no matter how rough they were to get through, has led me one step at a time to this place where I now stand, poised on the verge of flight...

I think a lot of us feel the same way about change and most often we like it afterwards but stress out first.I have read that the most stressful changes for people are getting married, moving. getting fired. getting retired, getting a new job, and having to have surgery some of these changes are supposed to be happy changes but still add some stress in our lives. good luck on your change. I know I stressed out when we had to move but now I love the apt we are in.

I hate to move but I do love being in a new place after all the work is done. I guess life would get a little dull if things didn't change...

It is good to purge! I am determined this move not to take the crap I haven't used in a year with me!

I always look at moving as an opportunity to clear out the clutter that has accumulated in my life. I have head on collisions with the rest of my family about this always. Virtually every member of my family is a pack rat. I swear. I am the only sane person in the area of stuff. (Although I do get pricked by the little demon-sword of needing something the day or so after I gotten rid of it.) But they all want to pack and load and haul sh1t around that has me going "what? are you nuts? I'm not toting that 1967 console tv that weighs 500 pounds and doesn't work and has 2 missing legs out to the already crammed moving truck so we can maybe strap it to the back of the truck precariously and then struggle to get it up the 5 flights of stairs at the new apartment building... many family quarrels have ensued over exactly that kind of thing. I won't even help any of them move any more. I told them since all that stuff was so friggin' important to them then they can haul it around on their backs. And then I like to charge them professional fees for that advice. I love moving into a new house almost more than anything! You are so lucky to be getting to do that!

I do look forward to some changes, others scare me. I guess it just depends on the change itself. Like I'm really looking forward to being able to move hopefully in the very near future but I'm not looking forward to a few issues that may cause.

Moving is one of the changes I'm facing and I hate to move. It seems I just feel like I am home and I have to move!

I think I'm ambivalent about change. We've moved so many times and I get excited and worried each and every time thinking ahead to the new place and all the differences there will be in our life. After the move and the newness wears off a little, I get nostalgic for the old place and what I've lost - maybe a grieving process. So it's stressful to me before and after. You can be happy and also stressed out about change.

Every time I feel myself stressing out I repeat the mantra "It will all work out in the end"

I am just like you. I don't like change at all, especially when it comes to certain things. I was working at a high school for 7 years. The people I worked with were literaly like family. But a change had to be made that would benefit me but I was so worried about the change because people were giving me information that was making me nervous but I did what I had to do and do not regret the move, I do however, miss my friends. Change is necessary and is inevitable at times, it's just part of life.

I can relate to changing jobs and I hate it. You just get close to people and have to leave, but once you get comfortable in the new job it all seems worth it.

I have a very hard time adjusting to change. It is just tough on me to do. I get into a routine and I don't like to disrupt it. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Well, for me it depends on the changes. If its a promotion, I will gladly accept it, although with some little apprehension. If its moving in a different place, sometimes I don't like it. When I become accustomed and feel at ease with the present situation and environment, the idea of moving or changing location or residence dread me. There are adjustment period, negative thoughts about certain issues that bother me. Anyway, changes in life is inevitable. We must just be ready to accept and incorporate in our lives those changes.

Changes are inevitable and I really should embrace them but sometimes I wish I could go back to simpler times.
