Weekend...what are your 'guilty pleasures?'

Canada

Hi to all... Here it is Friday evening and I am happy to have some time to Mylot and post some new discussions (and respond to older ones.) I think for most of us weekends are a time to kick back and enjoy a break in everyday routines. When I chat with clients they often talk about looking forward to the weekend so they can indulge in a few guilty pleasures. With that in mind I am curious...do you have any guilty pleasures? What they are? For some it is sleeping much later than they do during the week. For others it is puttering around in PJ's and not getting dressed for a day or two. Guilty pleasures for others are going out with friends and have a few drinks or a feast of food they don't normally eat. David's 'guilty pleasures' include onion and garlic potato chips and some chocolate. I also like munching on potato chips once in a while and I like a good quality chocolate. Another favorite thing of ours is to go out for a big feed at a local Chinese food buffet. Sometimes pulling an all-niter is a guilty pleasure for me if I am having fun Mylotting or playing a new computer game. So are you up for sharing what you consider 'guilty pleasures?' Not really sure where the term came from or that I subscribe to it. In my view there really is no reason to feel guilty if we enjoy things in moderation. Oh well...it is a phrase most of us are familiar with...so whatever we call it how or what do you do to indulge yourself? Especially this weekend...in Manitoba we are having another blast of cold weather...possibly minus 44 with the wind chill again. One of my guilty pleasures this weekend is going to be sipping on a few cups of thick, steaming hot chocolate. YES!!! Anyway, look forward to learning more about what you'll be doing! ENJOY whatever it is! Cheers.. Raia

If possible I do sleep in...maybe stay in my jammies way too long to the point I worry if someone might stop by and I won't be dressed. I also might go to a fast food place for a very unhealthy meal! Including a chocolate shake and a burger or dq for a hot fudge brownie sundae. I also relax stamping cards or scrapbooking while the house is in need of dusting. I find that the older I get the less attention the house gets! LOL

Hi...I love the way your 'guilt-ies' sound. My kind of weekend. I like to scrapbook too. Puttering around in the jammies is my idea of bliss too. I can appreciate being less driven where the house is concerned too...I am less "Martha Stewart" in my expectations for myself too...and personally I am glad to have less 'image-management' drives. I used to hard on myself and my hubby. We are much happier and content now. Fun post..thanks for sharing! Raia

every weekends since all of my angels are at home no school, we like roasting or grilling our food. my first born loves cooking so he can patiently grill something. we ate grilled fish at lunch now i have a big tummy because of that...lol. then for 4pm we call that merienda we will eat ginatan its a Philippine meriends food that has banana, yam ang gelatin with coco milk. it is very fattening but what the heck i love cooking at eating with my children. sometimes i would buy uncooked fries and after frying put some powdered cheese and dip it on blue cheese dressing...wow? yes wow. well i still love it. it is only if i have the right budget...lol

Hi again my friend.. I realized that I missed responding to this topic when it was pushed to the bottom. Oh well...here I am responding to every response...but 3 months later. Your guilty pleasures sound like a lot of fun for you and your kids. Quality of life is the key and guilty pleasure are part of that for all of us. From what we have been sharing I hope you haven't had to totally eliminate the guilty pleasures you talk about here. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours, Raia

I love to sleep on weekends, on weekend I wish to do everything cooly. My partner does not like it, she is very quick in discharging household affairs....so she does not like me sleeping on weekends and listening to music....LOl!

Hi again.. Sorry I have been so remiss in responding to your comments here. This discussion was pushed to the bottom and I noticed it as I have been assigning best responses to unresolved discussions. Your weekends sound lovely and good that your partner creates a space for you to do what is your 'me-time.' We all need to indulge ourselves so we don't run on empty. Hope your writing goals are progressing well. All the best.. Raia

Hi Raia, I'm basically secluded in my home most of the week. Ever since I settled down, I wasn't able to work again. My time was divided taking care of my 2 little tykes, doing household chores and selling things on the side. I actually have more free time during weekdays when my girls are off to school. Weekends are always the busiest. I have a long list of "guilty pleasures," namely sneaking out and enjoyed a cup of coffee with my best friend. Going to my hairdresser for some manicure and pedicure, buying new clothes or books. As for all those sinful sweets, I will indulge in my all-time favorite cheesecake and fruity gelatin from Lord Stows' Bakery. =)

Hi to you too...cute bunny rabbit on your Avatar. Miss not being here and chatting with good friends. I completely missed a number of replies on this topic because it was pushed to the bottom. Anyway, it is Friday here and another weekend is beginning and fun to be reading about what you do on weekends and what your guilty pleasures are. I love cheesecake too...would be fun to share some and chat more. Oh well...our intermittent on-line exchanges are what we have so we'll have to enjoy our cheesecake with others in our life. Just so long as we ENJOY...that is what guilty pleasures are about...right? Take care...we'll connect whenever we can. I see you are working your way towards 5,000 credits...good for you! Raia

Oh, TGIF is also a favorite expression among us working from Monday to Friday. I like to sleep late and wake up and stay in bed for long hours from Friday midnite til saturday morning, sometimes staying in bed up to before lunchtime. I also like it when I don't have to rush and dress up for office and just be on my house clothes. Its really cool just to be relaxing at home, listening to music or watching tv, and in the evening doing karaoke singing in my bedroom or sometimes myLotting, of course eating meals and snacks in between. Have a happy weekend.

We are getting another winter blast here too, cold and snow. I am hoping to hybernate this weekend if the snow keeps up. If the weather isn't too bad I will go to church with my mom on Sunday. Some of the grandsons are coming over this weekend. It will be a normal weekend around here.

hmm my weekend rarely come out as planned so it all depends on how they're going :) Some of the things we enjoy on weekends are: playing board games, chess or cards with hubby and kids, rent a few videos and watch, sleep later when possible, stay up later too LOL , cook a special dinner or have the kids cook diner for us - if they're home for diner -, finally have a chance to read a book, playing in the computer, and if the kids are away, like this weekend, finally have time and privacy for romance :)

Hi raia :):):):):) I am afraid I have been here on and off- come one day, post a lot, then I'm away for a few days again, haven't been able to catch to all the discussions and comments :) I went to Niagara falls last sunday with two of my friends and ended up having fun - to my surprise? LOL I sure miss our chats and would certainly love to be able to talk to you on the phone. MY schedule is still so-so but in general I am home at night - after 8 since I'm taking a second job - and during weekends except that I usually go grocery shopping at some point during the weekend but it's never a specific day, could be saturday or sunday either in the morning or early afternoon. What about your life? Got the web site revamped? Has your friend already moved in close to your home? IS spring showing signs in there too? We have had nice days but after a very warm - not average for this time - the return to normal temperatures was just the perfect excuse for me to get a cold hehehehe ANyway I wish you a wonderful weekend, looking forwards to more chats :)

Hi again... How are you? We used to chat so often...and then 'life happens' and our chats have diminished. I see your e-mail address and wonder if you still want to chat by phone. I have been waiting to see when your busy schedule lets up a bit..and I am still happy to call and have a heart to heart if you wish. Your weekends sound fun and rewarding for the whole family. Nothing 'guilty' about it...just a good quality of life. Take care...and hope to be more in touch if we can swing it. Even when I am not here I think of valued on-line friends here and come back and catch up as time permits...and that won't change. I like it here...and the friends who 'live' in Mylot Land. Raia

Hi Raia. It's pouring with rain at the moment and even though my son is fast asleep, were were munching on nacho chips earlier. We usually have snacks in the weekends, sometimes it's icecream or chocolate chip cookies. We will most definitely sleep in tommorrow and probably lounge around all day. If the weather doesn't pick up then it's indoors for us.

Even though I don't work, I still look forward to the week-ends. Today I am going to clean and walk the dog but that's it, I will enjoy the rest of the week-end. Week days are always so busy with doctor appts. and physical therapy, shopping, etc. that I really do look forward to the week-end. We usually just sit around and watch movies!

Hello my perspective friend. It is Saturday morning here at 11:57, one day ahead of your time. But I am sorry to say that we are working today as we have a special school calendar from other schools, owing to our students coming from different parts of the country. We usuall work for ten to fifteen days before we have a rest for four days straight. So that's to say we just had a our rest before the end of the day before yesterday. Now I just came back from my office to enjoy responding to discussions by my friends. I have to say that in the past days, I really had a lot of fun with plenty of time mylotting, which could be seen from the increasing posts of mine. I always enjoy my rest and spare time mylotting without wanting to do other things unless I have to because I have found that mylot is the best as well as my favorite communication with my friends to enhance friendship with each other. Thank you very much for this discussion of yours. Have a good weekend, my dear friend.

Wow...three months for me to get back to your response...sorry my valued friend. I didn't recognize you with the new Avatar you have. I have been really busy with work and personal commitments and am not here anywhere as much as I used to be. However, I love Mylot and the special connections I have made here so I will always come back and catch up as I can. I will also post when I know I will have some time to respond to as many comments as I can. May you and yours continue to enjoy your life and work as much as you appear to whenever I chat with you. Your on-line friendship is of value to me...even when our chats are few and far between. Blessings...your friend Raia

Hi perspectives, I'm afraid weekends aren't much different from other days with me now, but sometimes we still party on a Saturday night. I'm a firm believer in balance, but haven't been practicing it a lot recently. We are having rain right now, in fact most of our snow is gone. I expect at least one more winter storm, but Spring will be here soon. Blessings.

My guilty pleasures, on a weekend, are some that you suggested. I sleep in...pretty late. Usually till 11 AM. I know...that is really bad! But, I don't sleep well so, I get very tired throughout the week so, when the weekend is here, I get to get a little bit more sleep. Usually, about 2 hours before I have to get up on the week days is when I finally start to fall asleep so, it really wears me out. I get a few more hours of sleep on the weekends to compensate, even though I know that experts tell you not to do that but, I can't help it! Another guilty pleasure is that I don't cook on the weekends. I just either go grab something with the hubby or, we eat leftovers. It is my way or not burning myself out with cooking. I like to take the break that a weekend brings as literally as possible. I still grocery shop and clean the house on the weekends but, the rest is lazy time!

sleeping late on Sunday morning. having a bowl of sugar free mocha fudge ice cream sweetned by Splenda. eating breakfast out and having eggs and hash browns and bacon things I do not eat oridinarily but are my guilty pleasures for which I have to exercise afterwards to keep my blood sugar in balance. also just walking out side and listening to the birds sing all by myself verystill no one bothering me. feeling glad I am alive and in warm sunny Southern California and at peace with the world.
