Who actually won the Helium's writing contest before?

I have tried a couple of times and eventually gave up. However, once in awhile I would take part a couple not as much as I used to. Often than not, the articles that are in the top place are not so impressive. But the strange thing was after the contest had ended, my articles then slowly rise up substantially and some even at the very top. I do not know what happened but I would like to hear some experiances with the writing contest. :)

I am also very disappointed with the writing contests. Just a week after the contest ends my article rankings go up, that bugs me a lot. Also, I have observed the contests are more about quantity than quality. By the time i finish with a total of 10 articles I find others have already posted nearly 20 and mind you I am not saying all are that bad, some are very good, but I do find the ratings that time not upto the mark. I don't think I have it in me to write so many articles on similar titles in such a short span , so i basically pick up my favorite channel and write an article or two which I find interesting enough.

And it may be very annoying to see this happening far too often. There were even a few occasions, I was at the top spots until the last moment just before the contests were closed for calculations. I got trashed down all the way to below. Well, it may be that their standard were high. But when I look at it, there were so-so. Well, anyway, that is just life, isn't it. :)

Only done one contest - I was in second place for most of the week before dropping right down out of the money. Annoyingly a couple of weeks later three of my articles started going back up the rankings, I reckon if it had happened earlier may have got $5

It can be very annoying, I must agree. I cannot help to wonder myself is there anybody trying to collaborate with people to rank their articles up just to win the contest. We may not have a prima facie case here, but it does seems this way. I wonder.
