I think our microwave is about 6 years old and its still as good now as when we first bought it. The inside light doesnt work no more but it is spotless, its lasted really well. Sometimes with microwaves the paint peels inside but this one still looks brand new. Ive never thought about not having one, but I know if it broke I would be lost, im always using it! A lot more food is microwavable now and so they are really convenient, I can cook a roast in mine, never have done but I know you can do loads with it.

My goodness...it would be like losing a hand! I just lost my old friend, a Litton-Moffat that we bought 26 years ago. Mind you, it was expensive when we bought it...but it sure stood the test of time! Like you, I can't imagine life without one, and my new (old, from a second hand store) does not stack up to the old one, as it had a meat probe...I would start roasts in oven for the browning and finish to perfection with the micrwave. I really need to buy a new one, as my second hand one has serious issues, but I really don't know which brand! I cook one day a week, and freeze, (except for the little extras) so I basically use it for every meal! No, DON'T take away my Microwave...talk about a lost soul!

i think it would be okay with me.. my life won't be so much affected with out microwave ovens. honestly speaking, we do not have microwave oven here at home. i only use one at work for reheating. here at home we heat everything using a pan... so i guess nothing will drastically change for me. though i am thinking of buying another one, our old microwave was broken already... so we havent replaced it yet. hehe

Mine doesn't have the convection option. I really don't cook in my microwave except for oatmeal. I really just use it to warm things up.

well I did imagine it - some 12 years ago - and I went so far with my imagination as to actually get rid of it and decide never again. It really was not hard to adjust to not using it - the hardest things to adjust to were heating up soup and heating up leftover rice.... no biggy, food stays warmer longer when heated and cooked on the stove. now ask me to give up my toaster oven and I might growl.

Definitely one of the necessities of the modern household! They are so versatile for all kinds of cooking, especially timewise! Very rarely do we use the gas stove or oven anymore1

I have one but seldom use it any more. I don't like the way food tastes after it has been heated up in it. I would rather use the stove to cook and heat every thing up. I will find something to do when I heat up water for tea or left overs. I wouldn't be lost with out one.

My nuker is about 15 yrs old too actually and still works like a charm..in fact I dread the day that thing finally kicks the bucket on me because I doubt very much that the new models are nearly as long lasting or reliable as this one has been...They sure dont make things like they use to!! Could I live without it..of course! Its convient, much like an electric can opener is but its certainly NOT a necessity by any means

If I had to I could. Doesn't mean I'd like it They have those new steam in bag veggies. Great for reheating. Not to mention kitchen is cooler in the summer because of the microwave.Plus my kid likes her ocassional corn dog nuked too. Patience not being a 4 year old strong suit, microwaving is easier. Again, I could imagine, but I'd be back to the current reality pretty quick. lol

I don't think I could live without my microwave. You can do anything from cook something to boil water in them. We heat up hot pocket in there all the time. It is easy for my kids to warm things up in there too.
