Odd way to commit suicide

I just read an article about a 16 year old boy who may have intentionally driven head on into another vehicle as a suicide attempt. They are calling it that because they found suicide notes in his home. It was successful, by the way. They boy was pronounced dead at the scene. While going 55 mph, he apparently ran head on with an SUV. The driver of the SUV had several broken bones, but fortunately had no life threatening injuries. Now, if you're going to kill yourself, why take an innocent person with you? Or risk it in this case? I don't get it. In my opinion, suicide is a very selfish act. Sometimes a person truly is over the top depressed and just wants to die, but sometimes it is an intentional act to hurt other people. I had a coworker once who's boyfriend shot himself right in front of her. Before pulling the trigger, he even commented about her having to live with "this". What are your thoughts on this?

I also hope that no one tries to copy cat this. I do not understand why any one would want to take their own life. I understand people get down. But then want to take someone else life in the process. sad for a 16 year old to feel that lost to have to do something like this. Yes it is selfish, and weak of that person. I have been down in the dumps before and even on depressing med's. Which i got off them fast because they were not making me feel better they were making me think some crazy things. I just hope that anyone with depression has someone that they can talk to. And get the help they need.

sometimes it can be a selfish act... but sometimes it's because the person just can't stand hurting anymore. I suppose there are many reason why people choose to die before their time. while most reasons such as spite and only to hurt others really makes no sense to me... I really can't fault those who see it as the only ray of hope when they feel completely hopeless. I agree that involving another person in their attempt to kill themselves is wrong on so many levels. as there are better ways to do it.

This is very sad. I'm glad he didn't kill anyone else. I'm sure he didn't intend on doing that.
