I know you're getting tired of hearing about him but you know you guys are just about the only friends I have and you're a captive audience...lol....so I have to tell you all about my Bigguy and what he does. So, I was walking from the living room to the kitchen and have to go by my bedroom and I had left the light on in there. I thought I saw something move from the corner of my eye so I looked and who was on my bed...for the first time ever? You guessed it Bigguy! Slowly....because he will run if I move too fast....I walked into the living room and got my camera...lol...by this time he had decided he was safe so I guess he started to clean himself and you have to see his face when I snapped that picture! Shocked....I think so. I managed to get 2 more before he decided he had enough of me and took off under the bed. I've tried a dozen times to get him on the bed with me but no way...he would rather go under it than grace me with his company! Is this a weird cat or what?

That is fantastic. He is really making himself at home.I showed my sister Bigguy's picture and she loved it. She has a cat who Always hops into the chair she was just sitting in.Pretty soon Bigguy will want to be where you are.

After 2 months I don't know if he will ever want to be with me....he runs when I go near him and actually cowers when I try to pet him...except when "his majesty" is in the mood.

I would say he is acting in typical cat fashion, ctry, from everything I've heard about cat behavior. Some of them can act very haughty at times, so maybe this is his true character. I'm sure he'll warm up to you more and more with the passage of time.

Hey, if we do not like your talking about Bigguy, then we can cut on past these discussions, but I think it is neat. He is opening up. I have a cat that I got as a kitten, but she had to spend some emergency time at the vet's . It took forever to feel like she was bonding with us at all. She owns the bathroom, but will, on rare occassion, get in the lap. Usually my husband's not mine. She will reach out and grab you if she wants to be petted. I am answering from e-mail so have not seen the pic yet. I bet it is great.

When Bigguy wants to be petted he will come around my legs and as soon as I bend down to do it he cowers. I would think after 2 months with me he would start to trust me and know I'm not going to hurt him.

Lol.. you caught him in a brilliant pose with your camera. I wish I was that agile! ha ha. We never get fed up with our friends' stories about their pets, children and grandchildren. We love to read them, and keep up with their progress. So, keep posting them for us, please. I love the face on that Bigguy at being caught by you! lol. Brightest Blessings.

I think he waa surprised that I even saw him because I think he's smart enough to know I spend most of the day in my living room. He's very smart.

when i was looking through your story i thought you were describing terror. terror is my russian blue crossed who is extremely timid. i've heard from my parents that he ventures onto my bed several times. but i've never seen him on my bed with my own eyes. sometimes when i'm in my room i'll see him popping by, but turn tail the moment he saw that i'm in the room. good for you that you've seen him on your bed now. hopefully it'll be my turn soon.

The funny thing is that he won't come on my bed if I'm in it! As soon as I try to he jumps off! He's a very strange cat.

yup exactly the same as my terror. sometimes i wonder if i should have named him terrified instead. he'll only share the couch with me if he'd been observation for a few hours. until he decided i'm not gonna make any movement. if not he'd just keep watching and wait for me to leave the couch. lol

I love the photo of your cat! He is so cute. We have two cats. Jill sleeps between my husband and I. Every time he leans over to kiss me or I lean over to kiss him, Jill starts mewing and tries to get between our faces. It's hillarious! Jack stays at the foot of the bed. I've kicked him off while I'm sleeping lots of times by accident of course. He doesn't mind a bit, he gets right back up without saying a word.

Bigguy very seldom even meows....he's very quite and very laid back for a cat.

He looks a lot like my black & white cat, Kiwi. I looked at your great pohoto & wrote a comment. I think you can be assured now that your cat is slowly but gradually getting more confidence with you. Being on your bed... thats a good sign. I am not tirted of your cat discussions, & I am only sorry I don't get time to respond to them all.

He is just exhibiting one of his cat traits. We live with 3 of them and they are all different and do crazy things! Sometimes they are unpredictable and nothing surprises me anymore!

lol...I love anything blue. I'm thinking he likes flannel although he has a flannel blanket for himself that he never lays on. I don't see him cuddling and sleeping with me. I dont' think it's in his nature.

Thanks for saying that. I'm sure there are those people who would disagree with you. I have to admit I think getting on my bed is some progress and he knows it's ok to go there...now if he would only let me get on it with him...lol

Aww, You lucky pup. What a treat. It is always like a feeling of bliss when my cat comes to lie on my bed. She is, over the years, slowly getting more and more touchable. We adopted when she was a child age (about 3/4 of a year or so) old, and couldn't pick her up, cuddle her, just pet and warm kittyful chirps to her. But now she often comes in the evening to my bed (yahoo!). And now more often is on my lap now and then, but I need to get someone around me 24/7 in order to get more pictures of her curled around my neck. Too cute and sweet.

I think Bigguy is doing what all cats in history have done and that's to confuse their owners. Or maybe they are the owners and we provide the food and entertainment. We have a new cat now who we called George. George came around about 6 months ago to stare in the window, and to get rid of all the strays that ignorant people had left in our townhouse complex. He would eat the food left outside, stay for a bit then leave. After about a month he let my husband pet him but only outside. He did not like female voices at all, so I was not allowed to pet him but he would gladly take the food I gave him. We assumed he was a stray but did not fit the bill as he was not underweight. When 6 months had past he was one of the group, ( I have 4 female rescue girls who have been together forever) One day a man and a woman knocked on our door and said they thought we had their cat. They seemed nice, had the tatoo number, but when we went to pass George to them he freaked, clawed to get away and hid upstairs. What is strange about this, is that there were no posters about a lost cat in the whole 6 months and nothing was reported to the S.P.C.A. or the pound. And George goes out every morning but never returned to his former home, he was back at our place within 15 minutes. Female cats do not usually accept a male into their group either. Mine tolerate him, but there is no fighting or scratching. It's a real mystery as the people who owned him seemed nice and just left it at they were glad he had found a good home. If one of my cats were missing though I would have reported it and put up posters. Any how that's the story of George, he's fatter and happy now, maybe someone out there has some idea of his behavior. Thanks, Ceciliah

Keep the cat stories coming their neat. I'm not really surprised that your cat has decided to hide under the bed. The first time he's on the bed, a strange place, he's doing his comfy grooming thing and then you come with a big light which scared him. I think I would have waited until he got comfy coming to the bed like if he feels comfortable there, there's a good chance he'll come back. Now that he's been on the bed and got scared it's going to take a lot of coaxing to get him back, I think. You should have waited before shining a light in his eyes, and snapping a pic.

All cats are weird. At least yours isn't bossy. Ours will attack feet and meow relentlessly if he isn't fed when HE wnats to eat. Even if he just ate! And at night if I DO feed him, he'll eventiually make his way upstairs and mewo for NO REASON! He's a vocal little monster when he wants something.

you may have scared him snapping his picture like that. I know my cats are afraid of the vacuum cleaner.

Who could ever get tired of hearing cat stories??!!! Except cat haters,..but they don't count! lol Funny photo! I was house/pet sitting a Mainecoon cat,(I know it is two separate words but sites often take out the C*on word as it is a derogatory racial slur)and he was really a Gentle Giant as the breed states. Anyway, I had seen him bouncing around (as much as a 15 pound cat can, in the yard. I had to put down my cross stitching and by the time I got out there he was sitting in the common regal cat pose. Sitting up, paws all in tight, tail curled around them. His head was turned away from me so when I came outside, he slowly turned his head to look at me, knowing by the sound of the patio door that it was me and no alarm sounded off in his head to have a "snap" turn to look. I could not believe my eyes when I looked at him. He was sitting there looking so pretty and like any normal cat, only there was something in his mouth. I looked closer, and it looked like,....wings. I said, "What,..What do you have in your mouth?" Looking at me, so innocently, he opened his mouth and meowed. When this happened, the butterfly that must have been wriggling like crazy in his mouth escaped! It flew off, although with one wing slightly damaged. He just sat there and watched it go.
