Does anybody have a website on their Profile

that isn't about making money? I know that I'm not the right person to judge as I don't have a website at all. I also know that what brings the majority of myLotters here is the fact that we can get paid for posting, it brought me too. But I see people hawking their websites and when I get there it is simply is a long list of money making other websites. Perhaps I'm naive, but if you're going to have a website I'd like to know something about you, not a list of referrals. I'll prepare myself for the flack now.

I have a myspace which is about as personal as I get on the internet but it would do me no good to link to it from my profile here. You have to be on my friends list to be able to see my website and you have to know my soon to be last name to even send me a request asking me to be your friend.
It would serve to only cause more confusion then to allow people to get to know me. I'm pretty popular as it is :)

I don't even have a facebook account. LOL
Myspace is bad enough. And I haven't updated that since 12/28/07
But I can almost picture your face as you were typing that OMG I lie! Instead of just back spacing you would rather leave the lie out there and then tell me you were lying.

yeah about that book...I expect a signed copy :) So that when it is a best seller I can put mine on eBay and become rich. BWAHAHAHHAHA!

and so modest!! I don't even have a personal presence on the web, although we are constructing one for my book that comes out (fingers crossed) next month. OMG I lie, I have a Facebook account. But that's family only (plus a couple of others) and I rarely update it. In fact I never update it, my daughter does.

Yes I have, Im implying best is that article I posted about getting an online job. Maybe I could inspire some people who's looking to a real online job. It's my personal blog by the way, posting anything about living the NC way. I was planning to make one that's purelly for referrals too, but I just don't have the time, I'm too busy to do that.

I looked at your website - congrats on the job. Hope that it works our - and it isn't one of those that irritate me. I'd say if it was. What I dislike are those sites that are just long lists of referrals. Yours tells me a bit about you. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I do but its just a link to my yuwie profile page which is private anyway and you can only see my real life picture of my son and me LOL I just joined for the sake of joining and rarely go in. I have made a few friends that I like to keep in contact with but always forget to check the site.
I also had my bebo.com page (like myspace/facebook) as well but I made that private too. I started getting some weird pms which I didn't like so I made it private.
It doesn't really serve any purpose on my profile page other than my picture LOL

when i signed up at my lot i did'nt even know about the monetary part of it ,i found out after about 2 weeks after i stared using my lot , and frankly i dont care about the few bucks you can make ,i just enjoy the chatting and meeeting of new people

I dont have a long list of websites on my profile and to be honest it often puts me off people if that is all they are interested in. I like chatting to people and like what they ahve to say that doesnt involve, how do I make more money or join under me please!

I have a link .. and yes it's a blog about making money online. But I don,t put 1000 banners n my profile to ask people to join under me. I only put my blog link there because I can't give the link in discussion.
I'm like you, I don't like going in a profile and only to see many banners. One link is enough I think :)

Hi p1kef1sh,
I started blogging about 5, 6 months ago upon the encouragement of a very dear friend of mine here at mylot. I have it pasted on my profile but there's nary an online money making links there.
My blog is basically a personal reflection of my thoughts and feelings on a certain subject. I don't have any intention of making my blog looks like a disco house or something with all those online money making banners blinking back on us. =)

My website is www.chocolatecakeday.ca and it has nothing to do with making money. If anything, it's to promote making memories with loved ones.. to cherish the time you have with them now, because you never know when they could be gone forever.
I don't appreciate the websites and posts on my profile with all sorts of money making links either. I don't care about money.. I care about people.. .and I like to learn about new friends.. their hopes and dreams and history... not financial crap. ;)

I am very happy to publicise www.chocolatecakeday.ca as I think that it is a wonderful gesture and site the most worthwhile Profile page linked site that I have come across. That's www.chocolatecakeday.ca for anyone that hasn't visited. I feel the same abut the Profile links too. I suppose that you can remove them but I shall need Cyn to show me how.

I have had the same thought. I don't have my own website. The only links in my profile are for my articles on AC and Helium. They are not referral links, but I do get paid by page views on both sites. I think that a majority of people here are looking for ways to make money online, so you are going to see a lot of those types of referral links and sites. I have done it, but I hate having to get referrals in order to make money. I don't even have any referrals here, because I hate being bombarded by referral links, I don't do it to others.
I have invited a couple of writers to Helium, but they are people I know well who like to write like I do, and I talked to them about whether they were interested before I sent the invites.

You're blog made me laugh at myself. I have an Apple computer with a flat screen. I did save desk space originally, but I am so messy that it now sits like an island in a sea of disks, pens, staples, Q tips (?) and a rather scrummy looking chocolate bar. But I loved the blog. Good for you and thank you for sharing.

I did have my parenting website listed on my profile www.parenting.youk.uk.com and I openly admit the whole reason I came to myLot was because a fellow writer told me that this was a good way to drive a limited amount of traffic to my site. I can't stress enough how limited that has been!
Now I find I come here because I love typing! I use to love writing but since discovering myLot my writing has been back benched! I have worked out now it is just the act of typing that I like!

I am with you on the referrals they are the pits! If I wanted to make money I would get a job!

I wish that there had been a parenting website when my daughter was born. There wasn't even the internet. Is it good parenting to go to bed leaving your loved one to go to sleep accompanied by the sound (but not the vision) of a Hammer Horror film. She loved all those scream and things. She has grown up surprisingly normal - apart from the fangs!
I'm with you on jobs and stuff. This is fun, but it's no living.

i have one and guess what?! the first topic is about making money!! why? because that's the only thing i can think of that i can relate to and i know a lot of people are interested in money. But i'd eventually focus on something else. "money blogs" are getting too old.

Honestly, I want to post my own website (not about money-making though) but I just can't for some unknown glitches on my profile.
Though I am not looking for money-making opportunities here (as I guess you've already known from my previous post related to this topic of your's), I am always looking for something to know more on what type of individual that member is. It could be about their preference and likes or hobbies, something that they want to share to all of us and for us to look learn at..
I believe mylot allowed this to avoid spamming on the discussion boards, for those who's interests are simply for money-making opportunities on the net..
