Make a ton of money - but get the people there - HOW??????

Okay so everyone says you can make a ton of money online. But from what I have learned and figured, it all relies on two things... one is having something to sell that people want to buy or read about. And If knowing what the people want wasn't hard enough, the other necessary key is to have traffic to your site/blog...If the people don't go to your site/blog, they won't be buying from you so you won't be making the ton of money they claim you can.
So...the million dollar question that "they" never answer...how do you get traffic to your site? I know about having the URL/link in my signature line. i know about joining groups and messages boards. I know about buying PTC ads. I know about link exchange. I know about networking with all my sites/blogs and linking to them. I know about networking other ways, like here at My Lot. I know about referrals.
however, I have had so many sites/blogs etc in the past and so many of the same currently, and I have been religiously doing all these things (except the PTC and I just found out about that and am working on it) but still... not enough traffic to my sites/blogs to earn as much as to cover groceries for the month.
So... how do you get traffic to your site/blog? How do you get traffic to anything you have "available" on line - whether it is a sales site or an article just to get paid for views/hits - how do you get the people there?

I don't know. I can't help you but I was hoping that after I respond to this discussions and can see the other responses I hope someone else can help you so that I can get the help I need too. I have tried all the things you talk about and they don't work too well. I shouldn't say that they don't get people to my site, because I do have over 32,000 hits in the last 6 months, but how do I get people to sign up under my referral links. Of the 32,000 hits I have had only about 50 referrals and 38 of them are sign ups to mylot and are not active members here. So I am hoping that other members here have some good advice for you.

I'm a stay at home mom and i try to participate in paid sites online. I found that www.zazzle.com/jezzikabret* is a wonderful a creative way to make money. I've made enough to make it worth my time. I guess the secret is join popular legitimate sites and tell everyone you can about it.
