Helping an animal isn't always good

Yes, that sounds a bit odd, but if you have done this (ie. saving some animal from it's bad home, picked one up from the streets, etc.) you know that most times, they end up at the local shelter and not given much chance or time. I am currently dealing with that dilemma right now. Because I live in a friends home (who now is planning on selling it and moving to her second home) and she's already got a dog and I cannot have one...well, all I can now do is go visit this dog I helped and walk him. He is a beautiful soul that I have needed to have in my life for a while now. I have had a dog in my life for over 14 years and I lost my last one about 2 years ago. I have wanted another dog but being that I have not been able to be in my own place for a while and, as I said, staying with a friend, it makes it impossible. ANYWAY, my point is that I did finally get them to take this poor boy away from this family that, from what I later found out, had adopted this dog (as a puppy) about 5 years ago from this same shelter he is in now. The woman who runs this shelter told me that she looked up this dog's records and know who these people are and that she remembers having some hesitence in adopting to them. They basically loved him, walked him and everything when he was a puppy, but, as the story goes, he grew up, lost his "cuteness" and they tied him outside to a building, left him to be alone and live on a ten foot lead. This is where I always saw him. Yes, they fed and watered him, but that was it. No human time at all. So, he is now at this shelter, I am walking him every day but now I hear from the woman who runs that shelter that, b/c he isn't exactly socialized with other animals, he'll be one of the first on the list to be euthenized. That just broke my heart. I am now trying to find anyone to help. He IS a very good boy. He LOVES people and loves attention. He is at this shelter (Wetzel County Animal Shelter in West Virginia...if interested, I can send you a picture of him)and if anyone knows of someone who has a prison system even that could take him in for rehabing and fostering and then adoption, I would really appreciate any help here. Like I said, I would love to have him for myself, but my living situation is not allowing me to do so and I really do not want to see him put down...I hate begging on this site and I know I won't again..Any thoughts or help would be appreciated greatly!

Thanks for writing back...I wish there were more people who would help this dog. As it stands, he is in the local animal shelter and I am going to be able to foster him for a while. Hopefully, that will buy him enough time to find a forever home. He had a rough start of things being ignored all the time. He lived outside on that short lead and had food and water..nothing else. Not a good life for any living creature. We all need someone around for us, right? I am just hoping for the best now...
