I use to hate when my fiance would act better than someone. I use to think it was wrong and that we are all equal. My out look has changed, yes we are all born equal. Then we make choses that lead us to where we are today. The people im better than is anyone that is worse off than me. I dont mean by money but by attitude and they way they live life, there are people better than me too, but I knwo that i will be better and better as i go. I also believe anyone that is a low life or whatever can make themselves better people and move on. The people that dont do nothing with there lifes but live off of our taxes and do drugs and pop pills and all that are the low life I'm talking about. I use to be one except for the living off of taxes i lived off of other people. but i moved away form that and bettered myself. Am i wrong to think this way? Do you think like me or differntly?

I am going to say this. Coming from someone who has her own insecurities, I say absolutely not!! We are all equal and anyone who has a superiority complex is EXTREMELY insecure. I actually find it ironic that this topic is being discussed based on an experience I had just recently. This woman claims to be "cured" from a mental illness and throws all kinds of "I know more than you" info on this board that is related to this particular illness. And she clogs it up and gives "spiritual" lectures to those who really didn't ask for it to begin with. I kept quiet for a while but finally I got sick of her know it all attitude and responded with a smart a** remark to one of her posts.. and you can only imagine the attacks that I have been getting from this so-called superior person. I finally said to her if she is so much better than everyone, how come she is letting someone like ME give her so much power? Ironically she even mentioned that in her journal that she has been allowing me and others to be powerful over her. So proof right there, it was an act...anyone who claims they are better than you or anyone, anyone with a narcissistic disorder IS EXTREMELY insecure!!! They are not better than anyone else, just equal and they have a hard time accepting that.

I hear you and I wasn't implying at all that you claimed you were better. Sorry I was a bit tired last night. Personally I think we all have the power to better ourselves but some use it more than others. I admit I have a lot of things about myself that I could improve on myself.

My initial and gut reaction is to say no of course not but I thought long and hard about it and was honest with myself! I guess i am a lot like you - I do not think I am better than anyone else because of circumstances etc but when it comes to people who make evil and cruel decisions I know I would never make or be able to live with then I pity them and guess i do feel that I am better than them in some way! xxx

well, to mention the other side of the same coin, I would like to believe that I am worse than many people and that there is ample room for improvement in me. I am in constant struggle with myself to rectify my faults and to select my deeds. I also believe that we are not born equal, we cant be, otherwise what are genes for? We see so many poor people who are born and die on the footpath yet from these very people there rise some who die millionaires. They don’t make conscious choices but its in their genes to learn to adapt to circumstances and bend their surroundings to their own benefit. We all have certain basic faculties which help us to survive in this concrete jungle, but beyond that we all are different in the sense that some have more and some have less of intelligence and adaptability. Choices certainly play a part but for many millions across this pathetic planet, there is no choice but to just depend on their brain and survival instincts and those who have more of these, can better themselves in all respects and those that don’t, stagnate the way they are. Regarding myself, I believe I am in the league of the mediocre, just struggling along with the knowledge that I can better myself but just don’t have the brains to figure out how to do it.

I agree with you there is always room for improvement and almost always will be someone better than us out there. As long as you live to make your self a better person that thats all you need in this life. i still think people are born equal and they change that equalality when they make discissions in life. I rich person doesnt mean there better than me unless they use it as they should and not as a clutch for anger and hate if you know what i mean. You will one day have the brains to better yourself we all do, just keep trying and you will be there one day

Well yes, I used to always tell myself to be humble whoever I'm talking to but it seems pretty much unavoidable at times. As we walk on, we'd get to meet people who are worse than us and yet they don't seem to see their mistakes by criticizing others. That is where I get to lose control, I can't help but let them people know that they are the one's that have a very low mindset. That instead of making fun of those helpless, unfortunate folks than us, then it'd be a bit different if they just put their money where their mouth is.

I think everyone is the same. I don't care how much or how little a person has no one is ever better. I don't think you are wrong for feeling the way that you do, you've bettered yourself and everyone can do the same. I don't judge people by past mistakes, I try not to judge at all but I do frown upon people who don't try to become a better member to society.

yes its hard for me to say this is the way i think but it just is, the people that dont do anything but complain b/c there life isnt better and dont try arnt doing nothing for our society. and i did say that i didnt mean money or whatnot i mean personality and the way they live. If you think of it though if you are a person that actually trys to be better instead of sits on there but complaining, than they most likly will have more than the compainer. Then you also got the rich people that everything was handed down to them and they are complete buttholes, they are no better than the ones that dont do nothing for themselves.

I think the issue is how valuable [better] your life is. And that could be judged in different ways. I don't know that any of us have the right to make that total judgment. I know that some people value me more than others because of what I have done or what I could yet do for them. So, does that make me better or my life more valuable? Spiritually speaking, I think all life is equally precious. And we need to learn to see our entire world from that perspective. We as humans are no better than the trees or the animals, etc. That is what will save our planet and us.

like i said before maybe i should of used a differant word b/c i didnt really mean it like that but that like you said more valuable b/c we hold life more valuable than others that dont.

I do not think that we are all equal or all the same - however, that does not mean that I think that I am better than anyone. Any goodness I possess is by the Grace of God any wickedness I possess is by my own doing I believe that it is important for me to treat all persons with a certain Christian Dignity -

I think you are right, attitude will make you a better person - not just better than others, but a better you. I do not always act like I am right or better, because I don't think that would accomplish anything besides making other people mad...but it is always good to know you are doing the best you can with what you have.

I am starting to wonder what happened to Libertarianfreedom. You don't sound like your much of a libertarian now. Life is too short to spend being a snob. We all live our lives as best that we can. Remember to make friends on the way up, you may need them on the way back down!
