Do you practice magick?

Here is a question for you all. Some Wiccans do not practice magick (spells and potions), while others do. Do you practice magick? I'm new to Wicca, so I don't practice magick yet, though I hope to some day. If you do practice magick, how long were you a Wiccan before you decided to start practicing? I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I really am trying to increase my knowledge every day. Thanks.

I used to, in fact I used to teach others about it on the web for a small fee of $15. I used that $15 to set up supplies for the learner and I used to send them to that person to use while I taught them online. I haven't practiced or taught in so long, but I still have my spells and magick supplies. I also to tarot but I stopped that as well. If I had a reason to go back to that I would.

Very cool. That is a wonderful use of the fee that you charged, that way you knew that your students had the appropriate tools. Why did you stop? (if you don't mind me asking)

I'm not wiccan but i read the religion or whatever you wnat to call it, my fiance is a practicer of High Magick which i dont know much about at all. I dont think i will use spells or most magick. My magick is just like me sending energy a certain way i dont use anything else but me and my energy. And thats really me just practicing what will happen. I dont like tools and ritual though. I will use herbs for health when i have the want and time to study what to use and how.

...not unless quantum physics/positive thinking/faith is magic! Tho, I'm not Wiccan, maybe a little pagan.. I'm an astrologer and tarot card reader, but think of both as from the judeo/christian father God.. (yup even tarot -- reflects the bible more than christianity does in some ways!) Speaking for myself I don't use magic or spells, I pray for the people I know and that often turns out rather magical... tho I do, do a thing I think of as 'power dancing' which is a sort of worship of the great spirit, spark and breath of Life.. blessings..

I'm not Wiccan, but I'm answering anyways. Hope you don't mind. I'm a Celtic Reconstructionist Pagan. :P I do practice magick. I've been doing so since I was a small child, though it was under the supervision of my great-grandmother when I was very young. Later, once I branched out on my own more, I was very careful at first. When I'm teaching others, I try to make sure to impress on them that you don't want to start out doing huge undertakings before you really understand what you're doing... but neither do you want to let fear hold you back from doing anything. I don't think your question was stupid at all, by the way. The practice of magick is something that is largely debated with the Pagan and Wiccan community, and it makes perfect sense to ask if someone does or doesn't believe in or practice it. :)

I dabbled in magic even before I became pagan. Of course my spells failed miserably, but then I din know how magic works back then. Like any other skill, the only real way to improve in magic is to practice, practice, practice. That doesn't mean you cast random spells whenever you can! It means practicing the basics daily, like mediation, raising energy, etc etc. Good luck :)

Thanks so much for your response. Me personally, I'm focusing on my daily meditations right now. I figure I had better take everything step by step. No need to rush.

I do sometimes. I do not do anything big anymore, but I still do practice magic. I actually began practicing magic pretty early in the game. The best advice I can give about practicing magic is to start small and never do anything you know you cannot handle. I really don't think there should be a time limit on practicing magic but you should at least practice what you know you can do.
