When did you read War and Peace?

Did you have to read it for school, or just because you wanted to? I read it in eighth grade. I was looking for something new to read in the library, and picked it up because it had many pages in it, and I figured it would take a while to read. I usually read pretty quickly, but this one took me weeks to finish. I enjoyed most of it except for when they were actually fighting. How long did it take you to finish?

I first tried reading it around 6 or 7th grade. I stopped reading if after I realized I was just trying to read it because it was a big book. Someone that young can't understand the historical context or the true meaning behind works like that though, so I'd definitely hold off until one is ready and truly interested.

I had read everything else in the library, so I picked it up. I enjoyed it, even though I was only thirteen.

wow, small library. You may have enjoyed it, but you couldn't have understood it entirely.

My cousin gave me "The Three Musketeers" when I was about 10 or 12 and my mother told him that it was inappropriate for me as I was to young to understand it. She was right of course, and I didn't read that book at that time, just put it on the shelves where it stayed for another 4 or 5 years when I did read and enjoy it.

I can't remember. But I have read it twice, the second time bit by bit during my breaks at work. I usually take a book to work to read while I munch my sandwiches.

I take a book everywhere, just in case I'll have a chance to read.
