You know I never got into piercings, I mean they look fantastic if done right and in the right spot. But just not for me. Tattoo's however are my cup of tea! I would say that they are adornation of the body. Actually I feel that tattoo's are art. And what could be better than carrying with you a peice of art! When you get a tattoo, (or piercing I assume) you remember that monent for ever. And the tat usually stands for something special about you or your life at that moment. It's a wonderful thing to look dwon see a tatto and be brought back to that time and place again. I have 7 and dont plan to stop! I dont think I could love them more!

Well for me they are very adictive! I got my first on my 18 birthday i'm 23 and have 7, and i'm still craving more! I'm in the process of creating a slevee as a tribute tattoo for my father who passed in 2003. I hope to get my daughters handprint tattooed on me at some point in time. I love the idea of a vine with your kids names in it. Sort of like the vine is representing the growth of your children!

I totally agree with you. Each of my tatoos represent something in my life. SOmething I want to be reminded of. Do you think they can be addictive? I've been told by artists that a person either gets one or they never stop. What do you think on that? I want another one too, just haven't figured out exactly how I want it. I'm thinking a vine similar to my ear around my ankle, with my kids names woven into it.

Yup! That was my idea. They will always be growing, and always conected to me. I love the handprint idea!

I don't feel that they are mutilation at all. I have my ears pierced 3 times each and my nose is pierced I also want to get my top lip or tongue done as well. I have a tattoo on my back as well and want more so I guess maybe I am not the best person to ask LOL

Yea I think it has to do with being oldschool LOL People who did not grow up with this being normal see it differently then we do.

I'm not against piercing or tattoos. I have several tattoos but no piercings other than my ears. I've always wanted to get my eyebrow pierced but never had the courage to do it.

An ebrow piercing is not as bad as it sounds. I've had mine done twice, but thanks to my alergy to metals, I can't keep them. :( I say go for it!

I think that if a person is doing either for PERSONAL and SYMBOLIC reasons rather than because its the "cool" or "in" thing to do then I'm all for it! I LOVE body art and IMO its one of the best ways to tell the story of your life, to express yourself and so on.....

I totally agree with you on this one, although all my piercings have been for aesthetic reasons, all my tattoos are there to remind me of someone, and I will only ever get a tattoo if it's to remind me of a person or a time in my life that i enjoyed. I'm always quite prejudiced against people who have tribal tattoos, or flash pieces off the studio walls like a dragon or chinese lettering, I try not to be but they never seem to tell a story!

I have four tattoos, each of of them is my own design and, as such, quite unique. They are my own artwork and I feel quite proud to show off my art skills on my body. I have pierced ears, and wear an assortment of earrings, again they are pretty and I like them.

I am for it as long as it is tasteful and not done in vulgar for every one to see. they are symbolic and a way to express yourself. I have both and i decided on getting them but not until after i thought long and hard about it. they both can be very sexy and also can be distasteful as well. I mean if you are to put something on you that can offend others then put it in a place that is not seen by children.intimate piercings are great and i have one myself but they are not for everyone. So it is your choice to what you get and where you get it just keep in mind there young people around you sometimes to

Everyone is different and some like tattoos and peircings where others don't. It just depends on the person themselves. I for one love tattoos and piercings and I'm currently working on my first tattoo. Which I know won't stop there. They are very addicting as many friends have them and have not stopped at just one. Piercings for me is the same way. I have several right now which some friends and family don't like some of them that I got. But as I say if you don't like them don't look at me. It's my choice and your not the one that has to live with them.

well it depends, its cute when do have a couple, personally I have one small tattoo, but i dont like alot of tattoos, no discrimination though i think if you like them then go for them. But...dont regret it later. Thats why my tattto is on my lower stomach and you can only see it if im naked or at the beach in the summer, in a bathing suit.

How about a diplomatic response? I am not for or against body modification. I think it's a very personal decision, and one only the person wearing the body can make for themselves. Some people do take it a little far, and then it just becomes an obsession of mutilation. I've had my eyebrow done twice, but can't keep it cause I'm allergic to the metals. My ears are done and they've stayed, but I only wear earrings on special occasions, and remove them as soon as possible. Otherwise my ears swell up and it is painful. I have three tattoos, and each one is beautiful to me. The each have a special meaning, and adorn my body in delicate ways. You can see the vine on my ear on my avatar. I also have a frog on the top of my foot, and a tiger cub on my calf. I personally love body art, and think it is a great form of expression (for those who can tolerate a little pain).

I suppose theyre a bit of both. It's all about persn preference isn't it. I have both piercings and a tattoo and plans for more. Though not in excess - but in all honesty that's the same for most things - an excess can spoil it. My boyfriend scares me a little when he says that he wants his whole body covering - I just couldn't imagine it. He has 5 tattoos now but his whole body?! That's definitely what I'd call excess. Though he does suit them. Hmm...

I am totally for it, I am a cancer survivor. I have one tattoo that reminds me where I've been. I have 23 piercings that tell me what I've become.

They are both and neither. They are a personal decision. Nothing more or less.

I am all for tattoos if they have a symbolic meening. Like me. I want a tattoo but not just any tattoo. I am going to have my childrens initials and birthdates decoratively tattooed on either my upper arm or my back shoulder. I am very proud of my kids and I want to havethem with me all the time and by having the tattoo I can. Plus to me it is a way of bringing a tiny piece of my kids with me when I pass away.

I used to think that tattoos were, not a mutilation, but just not something that you should do to your body. I myself would never have one, but it is due to a huge fear of needles and an inability to with stand pain. One of my best friends is a tattoo artist, but I knew him first as an incredibly talented artist. He has helped me to see the art of tattooing, the meaning behind the pieces he creates for someone. I have really changed my opinion, being an artist myself, I appreciate the ability that it takes to produce one and receive it.
