I cook alot but find the smell of food in other rooms than the kitchen offensive. How can I get rid of the scent out without using all that air freshener. I see where they are filled with alot of chemicalls and I have tried candles, they are not bad but doesn't get the job done.

Well, if you want to skip the sprays and stuff, your best bet is to air out the environment as best you can. Open a window or two and turn on a fan. It'll help a lot, but it won't get it all out. You can try cutting open some lemons, just leave them on a plate on the kitchen counter for a little while. Lemon juice is also good for getting rid of odors from your hands, like fish, garlic and onion. That with candles (maybe the febreze candle -- I haven't tried it yet) should be pretty effective. If you decide to use an air freshener, I find that a quick spray (just push the button and release) of the air wick sprays in each room is really effective. The febreze air effects sprays are also pretty good at removing odors.

Vinegar. You can use it several ways. Put small amounts in shallow dishes and leave various places throughout the house. Put a small amount in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds or so. (It will clean your microwave too - just take a damp cloth and wipe!) Pick up a small spray bottle at the $1 store and fill with vinegar and just a little water (maybe 3 to 1, no need to measure). Spray that through the air in every room. It's not harmful and does the trick - cheaply!

Open windows, turn on a fan, or fan the area with a newspaper by hand. They also have air filters that can get rid of odors; you can find them at Target or Walmart and they're usually around $20, but you have to change the filters.
