Spinning cat hair

My cats have been sleeping on my bed & I've just scooped a whole handful of fur off there which they've maulted. It got me thinking, could you spin cat hair & make yarn? I mean, each hair is pretty short but I bet it would work. Has anyone ever tried? If so, let's hear your experiences! How much cat hair did you need to collect?

I've never tried, but I have a long haired guy that feels like angora and I bet he'd make a beautiful blanket. At least he makes a wonderful pillow when he is tolerant of being laid upon. I would think you need to collect alot. Are you planning on trying this?? I think it would be kind of weird.

I reckon you'd need a whole herd of cats (a herd of cats? what's the proper word I'm looking for?!) to get enough fur to make this work. It would take ages to even get a carrier bag full. Now the dogs would be a different matter, they seem to shed loads at the moment & often joke that I sweep up enough hair each day to knit a new dog. Their hair is courser though, not so nice for yarn. Perhaps I need a dog / cat cross! Isn't that a cod LoL
