I was reading another post and it got me wondering. How much does gas cost in other states and other countries? How much did it cost when you started driving? I am located about 40 miles outside of Chicago and gas is running between $3.39 AND $3.43 a GALLON. This is crazyness. When I started driving 10 years ago I paid $.99 for a gallon of gas.

Well sweetheart I love to help you guys feel better about the price of petrol (gas) in the states , here in Scotland it is between $9 and $10 a gallon depending on the rate of exchange etc! Now don't you feel a lot better? lol My other half was working in the states for about 4 months 5 years ago and he said it wasn't even a $ a gallon then so I do understand the comparative price rises are huge but I wish we could get it at the same price as you guys for a while! xxx

Another brilliant plan scuppered - I really hoped that would make you feel better sweety! The transport here is alright but not great! Unfortunately I am not fit enough to use it and my other half needs a car for work because of his shifts and the fact he would need two buses and a train to get to work otherwise and still have half an hours walk each way! it costs him a fortune to get the 30 miles there and back every day! xxxx

Sorry, that doesn't really make me feel better. I just makes me feel sorry for those of you who have to pay for gas in Scottland. I hope that there is good public transportation by you. The public transportation systems by my house suck. Its not too bad if you live downtown but I dont.(you could not pay me to do so either.)

I'm in Phoenix and I noticed yesterday that the cheapest price around was $3.13. And I realized that it's the same for a gallon of milk. When I got my first car in 1993, the gas was around $.99 to $1.01. I so wish it still cost that much! Or even double that much!

I would even be happy at two dollars a gallon. I could live with that. I understand that theres infaltion and prices go up. Gas for a dollar was awsome. It was not that long ago. What happened?

I live in Texarkana, Ar/Tx which is, if you haven't guessed a border city. Our gas prices range from $3.09 on the Arkansas side of town to $3.13 on Texas. I'm telling my age when I tell you this next one but I remember gas prices as low as 19 cents per gallon when I first started driving at 15 or 16! When I took my first trip to Houston to watch my beloved Astros play ball I drove down and back on less than 7 dollars! That was over 800 miles! I'm afraid the day of dollar or even 2 dollar gas is gone. I think before it all ends we will think these 3 dollar prices to be cheap!

Sadly, You're most likely right. I still hope though. I can see us a few years from now... Gas is up to $10 a gallon... do you remember when it was only 3 and a half... yeah those were the days when I could fill up and it only cost $60!
