Are you shy to broadcast yourself?

I have watched a lot of videos on youtube today and I just wonder, those people who make all these crazy movies, they are not affraid or shy to show off, to make themselves look like idiots, they just do what they want to and are extremely popular. I admire such people. What about you? Do you record your own videos and put it on youtube or anywhere else? Or you are just too shy to do that? or maybe there are any other reasons why not to show off yourself on the Internet?

great! so why don't you do it then? people who make videos on youtube very soon become popular. I think if you are not shy and confident of yourself, you should start doing it.

I cherish my privacy. Being shy has nothing to do with it. The reason the Internet became popular 10 years ago was... that for the first time... people could express their opinion while remaining anonymous. Many people are actually scare of expressing an opinion... because they cannot deal with a negative response. So the internet was perfect for them... even so... many cannot deal with a negative response even when they are anonymous. So... to answer your question... I have no idea why some people like to expose their private life on the Internet. Then again... those are probably the same people who would go and make idiots of themselve on a television reality show. Why do 70.000 people audition for American Idol when only 1000 of them can sing? Stupidity is a disease... and there is no cure for it.

Well I've yet to make any videos and upload them to YouTube, as I have no camcorder, but I've done the next best thing to poking a bit of fun at myself and that is to go to the SingSnap website which is an on-line karaoke type sing- along thing that one can do their versions of a variety of songs..so yes, have probably made a world-wide jerk of myself...I've posted in some past discussions of mine about this and my poor friends here at MyLot had to endure my singing skills

No, I wouldn't broadcast myself, I guess that's just not something I am into, I am not much for liking to get attention to myself, I feel better just being kind of like anonymous.

i am shy... and i dont think i would want that... i dont want to broadcast myself all over the internet. and honestly, i do not admire people who wants nothing but attention. i think its kinda selfish of them and being "loud" isnt a good character. maybe it did them some good, they became popular... but that's it. it would take more than a movie of yourself to earn people's respect.

I am involved in a business where I help people communicate online through video. I have been doing it for over 2 years now. At first, I was very self conscious. But after a month or two, I got over it. Of course, I don't do anything crazy either. I have my videos on helloWorld because I keep the rights to anything I make or upload on that site. I know that some people do not want to show themselves off is the way they look. I have had beautiful people tell me that. It's just that their self esteem is low or they are nervious. Other people like to kept their identities secret, or they are afraid of some sort of id theft.

Would you really want to make a video and post it on the web showing what a plank you are ? If I was making a video (sensible one) then I would have no problem being seen. But if it was like say, a video you are your partner had made ( you know the type lol ) and you had in-securities about your body then that would be extremely embarrasing.

I always think how brave these people are to put themselves on there! I could not do it, even when I was younger I would not have been able to do it, I am just to shy and reserved to do anything like that. But I do enjoy watching some of the things on there.

I would not be showing myself on a video for Utube, or any other program on the internet. It is partly shyness, but mostly because I dont think I would look good. I am 50 years old. You have to be careful too, what you put of yourself on the internet, as other [people may use it for inappropiate purposes.

I am a little shy but I am also a very private person. It is too dangerous these days to broadcast yourself to other people, especially on the internet. I do not feel very comfortable displaying anything online about myself or my family. It is very scary.

I use to lip-sync to music and my boyfriend would record it on video. Up until I just read this post, I had not thought about doing it on Youtube, but that might be fun indeed.

I'm not too shy, I just don't have the right equipment or an idea to put on Youtube. I have been on national TV before, and I wasn't scared then. I went and put a small portion of my business on the Maury Show, and I had fun the whole time. I love to make people laugh, and have been on stage a number of times singing, so I really can't say that I am shy. I just wouldn't know what to put on YouTube. So if anyone in the Cincinnati area wants to put something on YouTube, and needs an extra actress, hit me up!!!

I admire them too. I am such a shy person really that I envy those that are able to just be whatever and not feel awkward about it.

No way would I ever put a video of myself on youtube! I don't even like to be recorded for personal use. I hate being in front of a video camera. I have one to record all of my kids special moments but I hate it when my husband turns the camera on me!
