I am wondering if human was born to be good or was born to be evil and parenting and environment turned him into good?

There has been a lot of debate over this by Theologians and Psychologists alike for many years. From a "religious" aspect, most Christians believe that humans are "born in sin" because of the sin of Eve (when she took the apple from the Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good And Evil, and gave an apple to Adam as well). In the Christian Bibles, it is said that because Eve disobeyed God, she and Adam were punished by having "everlasting life" taken away (ashes to ashes) meaning they would no longer live forever, as God had intended, but would die of old age or disease, etc. From a scientific point of view, many scientists argue whether people are a product of their Genes (parents and family) or their Environment (where they are raised, what they are exposed to, etc). From that aspect, I believe it is a combination of Genes and Environment that shapes us into who we become. I think truly "evil" people have deep psychological problems in most instances. I'm not sure what I believe from a religious aspect, except that I do believe we are given the free will to choose our own path in life. This is a great discussion to post. Thanks!

Nope, I'm just an average stay at home mom, but I read a lot and like to have deep discussions with my family and friends. :)

Really in depth. I agreed that personality/idiosyncrasy is the product from both intuitive and environment factors. Like, our emotions swing from time to time and that already has impacts on our deeds in terms of good and bad..

Hi Kilani, hows ur day? I think human is born to be good people. Only the environment nad other bad factors made the human to become evil. By the way I've already joined bUXnet, and I earned $0.31, not bad. Did you already joined the World Mail Monitor survey that was I sent you before?

If you think about it logically it's really a no brainer. Man just likes to complicate things. Think about this: Every one has emotions. Negative ones like anger, envy, jealousy etc. And positive ones like, compassion, love, etc. It is the choices we make that determine whether or not we are going to be 'good' or 'evil'. Our choices, though often based on our gene pool, environment, culture or belief system shapes those choices, but are not totally responsible for them. After all God gave us free will. Therefore the choices we make are ours and ours alone and taking responsibility for them makes us better people which basically makes us good - not pefect, who can be - but good. People who make poor choices or don't take responsibility for their actions are not good people.

I think all humans are borned both evil and good, it's the choice the person makes in his life that will tell what he will become and still at that time he will still have both good and evil inside of him.

Good and evil are terms that are manmade. They mean something different to everybody. We are born as neither. The decisions we make in turn make us moral or not moral, according to what we each believe moral and not moral are. Human morality is the product of evolution, and has developed by our minds. If there is a God, any humble human should be able to admit that human morality is certainly flawed. I, however, don't see any place for God in morality, as I do not believe God affects the universe if God exists.
