Fat person parking only...

I was at the mall looking for a parking spot yesterday. There was tons of handicapped spots. I don't begrudge the handicapped their spots as they need more room to get in and out of their cars and are closer to the door to help. I think that is great. Then we have the spots for seniors closer to the door once again a good idea. I will be old one day and need to be closer to the door. Then this is where I draw the line. They have pregnant woman parking and people with kids parking. Once again they are bigger spots to allow them to get out of those obnoxious mini vans. Why can't we have fat person parking? They should put them as far away from the door as possible so at least we get exercise. They should also make them a little wider so we can get out without banging our doors into other people! I drive a full size American car and these new fangled parking lots are not designed for real cars. If I drove one of those little cars it wouldn't be so bad. So why not give us a fat person parking spot in the far end of the parking lot? Every other group it seems gets one...

This story ended up different than I thought it was going to. I agree they should have "fat parking" in the back of the lot.

It would be interesting to watch and see who actually admits to being fat and parks there.

Well, you must live in a progressive area! We have handicapped parking but none of the others. Once the Kmart did have one single "expectant mothers' space but it was farther away than some of the regular parking spaces...and the sign was shabby so everybody parked there like it was a regular space anyway. Once, when I was expecting a middle aged man darted in front of us and stole that space. S/o had a few words with him but he refused to move "since (we) were parked right next to it anyway". Once I had to stand in the gas station parking lot for a few minutes waiting for two groups of teenagers to come out and move their cars because they had parked on either side of me too close for me to squeeze through with my youngest son's infant carseat. As for "fat people parking" I can see your point and it's a good one! Too bad here in the US people have to be too politcally correct so there'd be a lawsuit I'm sure if a store was ever brave enough to put up that designation!

I am so sick of all this political correctness, it drives me nuts. You are right though people would sue! That drives me nuts too.

I don't live in the USA to start with and it must be nice to be perfect. I hope you teach your children the tolerance you show for people.

Its not PC at all. Its a well known fact that the US has more obese people than anywhere in the world. Stop eating burgers, get off your arses and exercise and go on a bloody diet!

LOL. I love this topic, so I just had to comment!!! Fat people parking, what a clever idea! That would be a really great way to get exercise into americans. Haha...now, here's another fat person idea. Since we have an energy problem facing the planet, why don't all fat people who want to lose weight help with the problem? We can set up centers where people could work out on stationary bikes for free. These bikes would be set up in a fashion that would turn turbines, thus, creating free energy while getting people in shape! LOL And, to top it off, fat people parking is in the waaayyy back. :)

ROFL! I'm glad that someone agrees! And what a great idea to add the screen to it. :) I think that my idea is great. I think I'm going to start working on the plan right now...are you in? :P

Sign me up! What a great idea, I would be willing to contribute my peddle power. They could put us in front of a huge screen teaching us how to eat right. I bet if all the tubbies in the world chipped in there would be power to spare.

Well, whywiki, I say why not! Being a BBW, I have found the seating to be inadequate in a couple of places. I think everything should be geared toward having a thought for those who are weight-challenged. With so many of us being fat we should have our own parking spaces.

I like the term weight-challenged it sounds nicer than fat. I also like the term pleasantly obese over morbidly obese but it doesn't seem to be catching on.

I also agree that they should have fat peoples parking at the back of the lot but with regards to your comment about a bigger spot because you drive a big car and you need to get your big body out, hell no! Get a smaller car and cut down on the co2 in the atmosphere and go on a diet because you're fat (no offence, just my opinion) The reason they have mother and baby parking is because its quite difficult to get a baby/toddler out of the car seat when you only have 5 inches to squeeze through. Ditto with the pregnant parking. Both good reasons IMHO. Trust me, having been a pregnant woman and a woman with a 16 month old son i know how difficult it is to try and get my son into his car seat when iv got 5 inches of space. These spaces are very much needed.

My car is big but runs on propane which has very clean emissions which is why the government gave breaks to taxi owners to convert to propane which helps save the environment. I guess you have never had a real weight problem because contrary to popular opinion losing weight just isn't that simple. I am fat because I eat and am and you got pregnant by your choice. So why should pregnant women be given preference? Maybe they can park at the back of the lot too? Then they can teach there kids about exercise so they don't get fat and need fat people parking.

why does everyone assume because we are fat that we are not already doing something about it.please that remark is really rather unkind to all of us who are overweight and doing something about it because just looking at us you do not know that we are not only not blind but we already know about what to do about being fat so do not need someone to tell us that.sorry for the rant.

What a humorous topic. It certainly was a brainstormer to have a fat person parking lot only. I cannot help not responding. The problem is the slim person will end up parking in the fat lots as they are more willing to walk further. Fat people detest exercise.

I park far out in the lots usually, though not as far as the tractor trailers and RVs in the Walmart parking lot. A long time ago someone had an article about health and suggested taking the stairs, parking farther out and all that stuff and that's what I've been doing ever sense. I have extra weight on me and hopefully all this sprinting around I do is helping keep more off lol. I have to agree that here in the US there would be a call to arms if such a designated parking spot was implemented - we are righteous in our causes. A local store here does have special spots in front for hybrid vehicles or other environmentally efficient ones.

I had read an article something like that too. I try and take the stairs when I can but if they are steep and I am tired I take the elevator. I hate elevators tho...

Seems to me no one wants to park in the back anyway because they don't want to "walk that far". Also, my husband drives a truck and in order to have more room we park in the back where the spaces are bigger.

I understand that my husband has this big van and it is easier to park away from everyone else.

We could have those scales that spit out a reaction to you when you stand on them next to the spot. It could say "Sorry you are not fat enough to park here" or "yes you really are fat now run to the store, quick quick!"

Do you realize how funny that discussion turned out to be?? I didn't think it was going to end that way at all... Way to "up" the suspense!! Haha. That's truly the way life should work... Only pregnany women in the back too!! Haha I needed to excersise severely when I was pregnant and yet I took all the short cuts!!

I have to admit I have never been pregnant but sometimes when I see the spots I am tempted to take them and dare someone to question whether I am knocked up or not.
