Our world has a problem. Fuel. The cost of oil is beyond belief. The cost of gasoline is beyond belief. I know there has to be a solution. Our world is full of natural resourses. Isn't it time to put our heads together, everywhere, and make some decisions about what to do? Shell and BP are two huge corporations that are trying to make a difference. The research is being done but research only goes so far. It is time to act. I have seen used cooking oil recycled and put to use for deisle engines. When is the complaining going to turn into solutions?

I think that part pf the problem is the lobbying groups. Every country has lobbying groups. The most infuential ones are usually the ones with money. This would be the oil tycoons, energy companies and a lot of other companies whose bottom line depends on the way they do business. The unenvironmentally friendly ways. Unless you vote into government peole who are really serious about the environment and not just saying it just to get votes, the nothings going to change

This is a complicated issue but it is best understood using the role of supply, demand and the market. Why are oil and gasoline prices so high? Because supply through new oil discoveries cannot catch up with the increase in demand especially with the high growth rates of the economies of China and India. This explains why despite the economic problems of the US, oil prices remain high. It's very likely that oil supplies will last only a few more decades and the real solution is to use alternative fuels or energy sources that are non polluting and and plentiful- sun, wind, ocean currents, nuclear. The huge corporations are doing their research and may need to do more. Why are they not turning their research into real business? Because they don't think yet that it will be profitable. They will only act when they think it will be good business.Government can help by giving them incentives.
