Has anyone tried these flavors of potato chips before?

I was in the grocery store the other day, and I noticed that some new flavor chips are on sale. I guess that the store is trying to gauge whether these kinds of chips will have any sort of following or popularity. Anyway, the new flavors were: Szechwan, Buffalo Wing & Blue Cheese, Curry and Indian Masala. Has anyone tried these flavors before? I am interested in receiving some opinions before I take the plunge and try them out.

Hi bayernfan,it’s really a great news for those who like to try foods or chips of new flavors. Besides, when on sale they also could get the chips with lower prices as well. Frankly, I haven’t tried these new flavors of potato chips before. I think the flavor of curry one might be tasted hot and spicy. Anyway I prefer to take ordinary potato chips with only a little bit of salt and pepper powder sprinkle on them. I love the original taste of the potato chip. posting and take care.

Thanks for replying ilkbooi. Spicy flavors are not for everyone. Taking ordinary potato chips and adding your own flavors/spices is a perfectly acceptable way of going about your business. I knew someone who flavored plain chips with vinegar.

That actually does not sound too bad. But I have never tried or heard of that before. But yea it seems like there is so many things being made. People are not scared to risk things. People will drink or eat or do anything these days. The minute something happens then they want to sue.

Yeah, there does seem to be plenty of people taking undue risk and litigation for every little thing seems to be spiraling out of control. Taking a chance on a new flavor of potato chips is a small risk. I have never heard of anyone suing the manufacturer because they didn't like the taste of the new flavor of chips that they bought. Perhaps if something inappropriate was found in a bag, maybe? People do send bags back to the manufacture for refund if they weren't impressed with the chips or if the chips were stale though. I have never done that before myself.

I have tried the dorritos buffalo wing and blue cheese - I was not terribly impressed. I have not seen the others but would be thrilled to try the szechwan - as far as the curry and masala it seems to be a popular flavoring in foods these days... like chipolte was a few years ago.

I have had the chance to try Buffalo Wing flavored potato chips as well as pretzels before. Also, I have eaten barbecue chicken flavored potato chips in the past. They were all delicious. I am curious as to how the addition of the blue cheese flavor will taste. Perhaps the grocery store in my neighborhood is trying to attract different customers to buy potato chips with ethnic flavors? I will definately know if it has worked if the new flavors aren't around on the shelves for long.

I have never tried any of these flavours of chips that you have seen, but , the Buffalo Wing and Blue Cheese sounds nice. At the end of the day you still cant beat good old Salt and Vinegar plain and simple.

Yeah, salt and vinegar is a great flavor. I am surprised by the number of myLotters who have left comments about how much they dislike S&V chips in some of my other threads. To each his own.

I have tried Lime and Pepper potato chips before. They weren't horrible, but I don't consider them to be one of my favorites and I probably wouldn't but them again myself. There is always time to try out other flavors, unless one passes away before they get the chance.

I haven't tried any of them and honestly, what's wrong with plain ol' chips anymore? Each time someone adds new items like this, everyone else has to create something new also to try to outdo the other. I'll stick with plain and sour cream and onion, thanks.

There is nothing wrong with plain chips at all. I enjoy a bag of plain potato chips every once in a while. Sour Cream & Onion are a good flavor too. I don't think that there is anything wrong with companies introducing new flavors in order to satisfy the needs and/or wants of their customers or in the hopes to increase sales and profits. Variety is the spice of life.

Well these particular potato chips are on sale right now at my local grocery store in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Curry and Indian Masala flavors are produced by Lays. The other flavors are made by a grocery store brand called President's Choice.
