Do you prefer your fruit cold or room temp?

I love the idea of having a big fruit basket on the counter or table, but I like most of those type s of fruit in the fridge. Apples, oranges, grapes, plums, etc I prefer cold. (Did anyone else get apples and oranges from Santa in elementary school and they were almost frozen because they were from the North Pole?!? I loved those!) Anyway, I do prefer bananas room temp, but also like them in the fridge. How about you- what is your preference?

I prefer my fruits at room temperature. I keep a bowl of fruit on the worktop in the kitchen, where I suppose they are semi-cold. I was of the opinion that you couldn't refrigerate bananas anyway... that they go black, if you do. I never had near frozen fruit from the North Pole, no. Any fruit from Santa was in my stocking, and at room temperature. lol. It sounds like quite a cute idea though! Brightest Blessings.

Thank you for BR, my friend. Yes, I have very warm memories of those Christmases, years ago.

I actually don't mind them either way. Most of the fruit in our house gets kept in the fridge just to keep it tasty yummy longer--but sometimes we also keep the fruit out on the counter. And I'll eat it either way! Fruit disappears pretty fast in our house, so it doesn't have time to go bad because it doesn't get put in the fridge! =)

That's good! Fruit doesn't last long in your house, then you must be a healthy eater. Mind if I borrow your self control? : )

I think a lot of fruits I would rather eat cold simply because that is how it was when I was growing up. Most of the time, I don't bother any more because I buy it and eat it now rather than getting enough to last for days. Even when I lived in Alaska growing up, my mom usually left most fruits in the fridge except bananas.

It really depends. I mostly prefer my fruit at room temperature. If it is a fruit salad, or the fruit has already been peeled or cut or whatever, I want it in the fridge! Otherwise it will go bad really fast.

erm i think room temperature is best as when things are cold i think it takes some of the taste away especially in fruit

I prfer my fresh fruits to be room temp. I have 2 apple tress, a bunch of red rasberry bushes, grape vines, strawberries, and I eat them right from the plants each year except the apples mostly. I hope to have a huge crop of fruits this year as last years was fairly decent. The plants are only a couple years old and the apple trees are 3 years old. I like my canned fruits cold as can be also. I do noyt like biting into cold fruit for some reason. Being as I was in a Catholic School we got a Bible or a Rosary at Christmass time. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hat, I live in a city of 60,000. I just have a large backyard not acreage. I manage the space for gardening and my beagles running habits. Its work but I manage to make room. My rasberries are outside of the back yard. Grapes vining along the side fence. And the apple trees are in the midsdle of the yard. The strawberries are alongside the garage which I fence off to keep Buster out. So I make good use of the little space I have even though for a city yard it's large. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You must have a large acreage grandpa Bob and I do envy you when I was a kid on the farm back in SD we had allthose kinds of fruit also. I loved ripe grapes and raspberries and strawberries and remember the huge watermelons my dad raised. cold fruit sometimes makes my teeth hurt. lol

I like them cold! I put all my fruit in the fridge anyway, so I won't attract any gnats. But I like the coolness of the grapes, and the way the juice bursts out. And I don't think it is the same to eat an orange at room temperature. Of course I'd eat the fruit anyway, but I just prefer it to come from the refrigerator.

I like fruit at room temperature. I keep a lot of fruit in the fridge mainly to keep it around longer, but I like a small bowl on the counter or table. Seems like the family doesn't look in the fridge for food snacks. I also like water at room temp - always have. Now I like salads cold out of the fridge... ...whit

I prefer all my fruit at room temp. With having sensitive teeth if the fruit is too cold it sets my teeth off and they start to ache

Hi, I also like some fruits like Apples, Grapes, Oranges kept refrigerated and cold. Only then they taste better. Apples will be crispier if they stay in the fridge. Grapes have a sweeter taste. But bananas cannot be kept inside the refrigerator for long, the skin'll turn a dirty black shade. I don't like it then. Banaas , I like at the room temperature and that too when they are just ripe. Mangoes also can be had cold, it'll be easier to cut them.. I like most of the fruits to be cold or at least chilled as you say. All the best

I also like my fruit cold specially my apples and oranges and pears but I have bad luck with bananas in the fridge so have started keeping them on top but again they ripen too quickly. I also like to have a bowl of fruit out ocassionally. I love fruit of all sorts.

I don't like most of them really cold, and since my kitchen is pretty cool right now I leave most of them out on the counter. Right now I have apples and oranges sitting there. As the weather gets warmer that may change, and I may put them in the vegetable bin of the refrigerator. Even with that, I'll probably take them out before eating.

I can eat fruits either way, but I do prefer mine to be room temperature. It doesn't really matter to me either way, though. I never had Santa's fruits, the almost-frozen ones you mentioned, but I really don't think I would like fruit that was so cold it was almost frozen.

Well, I have to say that I like my fruit room temperature. I will take fruit out of the fridge for a few minutes before I eat it. I have always been that way. We have a bowl of fruit on our table that holds apples, oranges, grapefruit, bananas, pears, But the pineapples, watermelons, cantaloupe don't get put in the fridge till they are cut so not to spoil but strawberries, grapes, peaches, plums and Kiwi I put in the fridge to make them last longer because if not they go faster. And nowdays with the price of fruit on the rise it is wise to make it last as long as you can and not waste it. Kids also grab things that they see alot so if it is fruit they see they will grab it first before the junk..some kids do.So they are more healthy.

I like to keep my apples and grapes in the fridge. It keeps the apples nice and crisp. Bananas look terrible once you put them in the fridge...the peel turns black and my husband won't eat them even though I've told him many times it doesn't change the flavor...oh well :)

It is funny that I see this discussion because my daughter was staying at her friend's farm and they keep their fruit in room temperature. I have always put them in the fridge. I don't know why I do, maybe because I think it will make them last longer or something. But that is how all my family has done it. Well she came home and took out an apple and left it on the counter. I asked her what she was doing and she said her friend had the best apples cause they were not cold and hurt her sensitive teeth, so now she wants room temp apples in her lunch. I don't really have a preference I think as long as we are actually eating them. I am used to colder fruit though.

I prefer mine at room temp, I really dislike biting into anything that's cold. I also think that fruit has more flavor at room temp. The only exception would be bananas on my ice cream!

For fruits like bananas, oranges and other citrus fruits, I prefer it at room temperature. Other fruits like papaya, watermelon, mangoes, and apples I prefer cold.
