Poetry(.)com Is a scam, google it.... SO many people use it that they are still getting money to run these scams. Each time some one clicks on their link or visits their site they make money for it. I posted over 10 poems on there back in the day and decided to find out if they were real or not. I sent in a poem that said "your site sucks, it is a scam, you do not read anything blah blah blah" and they sent me a thing in the mail, like with all my other poems saying, congratulations on your poem it has been chosen blah blah blah. They are a major scam... go to google and look it up under: poetry.com scam and you will find out all about it.

I got scammed into believing in them when I was in my early teens. I was so thrilled when I was told my poem was a semi-finalist and whatnot and only didn't buy the book because there was no way on earth I could have afforded it at that age. I was so devastated to learn I'd been tricked and felt really used and stupid.

Thats exactly how i felt when I learned that they were telling EVERYONE who entered a poem the same thing as me. I bet they target young people because there easier to convince!

There are really alot of scams going on the internet that i have found now I mean I have been ripped off from a lot of differnet kinds ofwebsites you really have to watch what you get into on the internet because some places can use your information and get into your bank account and things like that so just watch out!!!

That's why I wont put my social security number or bank information online. I never try to make money from a site that ask for a start up cost! You are right though, there are tons of scams going on through the internet, so many it is hard to trust any site. Good thing for user ratings and forums!

I looked this up too after becoming suspicious. It turns out they print anything but take your money and donations for a book they just throw together. I guess they could be doing worse, but its still extremely deceptive.
