Do you have any rituals when you have a cold?

I'm home with a cold, and I'm cuddled up on the couch with some flat ginger ale, and the TV remote. The ginger ale always makes me feel better. Is there anything you do when you have a cold that makes you feel better?

I am in my bed when I have cold. I drink a lot of tea with lemon and honey. Other than this, I don't eat much and I read a lot. Are you sick? Hope you get better soon. HUGS

Yes, I'm sick. I'm all stuffy, and feeling generally miserable. So, I'm trying to get tips from people.

I like a nice hot toddy, which is basically coffee with a hint of whisky or rum in it depending on what I have in the house, it helps to burn out the germs. Sometimes I will have a nice hot bath to sweat the germs out and to relax me, the steam from the hot bath helps the nasal passages and there is special bubble bath you can get with emits a powerful scent to clear the nose and the sinuses. Keeping warm naturally and keep drinking plenty to warn off the sore throat!

Trashy daytime TV is helping too! I had a nice hot shower, helped with the congestion for a while, but, sniff, sniff, was temporary.

I'm never sick bonbon, but when I feel like I might be getting something like a cold I have strict rituals. I lather my chest with Vicks and wear an old T-shirt. I make a big pot of Chicken Soup and garble a lot with warm salt water. The chicken soup is the key......it knocks out most any sickness.

Yeah, I'm on the soup too. I didn't feel like making it, so, I'm just eating store bought.

Store bought is good, as long as you pushing liquids. If you get a chance - make it from scratch. It's so much better for you.

i've always relied on neozep and i've always had the original formula so the sleep that follows after each tablet is very much welcome and appreciated. the staying away from cold water is just about it .

When I have a cold, I always feel like taking sleeping pills, then taking tea. After this, I curl up on my sofa and catch a lovely nap. When I wake up I feel much better and my cold is practically gone.

I usually request to have soup during dinner so I can slowly sip it and enjoy the warmth it brings to my body. I also apply mentol ointment on my chest, back and neck before I sleep. The mentol helps me breathe more easily so I can fall asleep faster. I still go to work as usual but when I get home, I seldom do anything because I am too sleepy.

When I have a cold I usually wrap up in a warm blanket, take a cold tablet then drink a hot tea with a shot of rye in it and curl up on the couch. I always feel much better after I wake up.

You seem to be doing the right thing, bonbon, because liquids are very good for a cold. I prefer hot liquids such as coffee and tea. I also like plenty of chicken noodle soup. It is nice to cuddle up in warm jammies or night gown with the TV or a good book.

aww---sorry to hear you're under the weather bonbon...With me, when I get a cold it's the chicken soup thing...now I make good homemade soups, but for some reason I prefer good ole Campbell's Chicken Noodle---also I drink a lot of hot teas, and especially before going to bed have my mint tea with lemon, and if I have it a shot of brandy in it..hehee..that was my great-grandmother's favorite cure

When I get a cold, I would jump into a really hot shower or a hot bath, then I would go to bed and cover myself with blankets, after some sweat, usually I feel a lot better. Of course, drink a lot of water too.

Ohh, was that colds? Well, I just have to take a lot of hot or warm water. Lemon juice once in a while. The feeling will really make you seemingly uncomfortable and weak but water is still the best remedy for it. Try to visit the doctor too for some medical advice about the right medicine to take. Feel warm. Get well soon!

Oh I have what I and my children all refer to as 'my sick blanket' - it's actually the second afghan I ever made 30+ years ago (pinks and white). I curl up with that, orange juice and chicken noodle soup. I also like having the remote close at hand :)

My partner always makes a big pot of chicken "stewp" (a mixture between stew and soup) with lots of garlic to make me feel better. It's nice being taken care of when you're sick. Other than that I sit and amass great piles of used tissues.

I don't have any rituals for when I have a cold. I usually end up doing the same things I always do, but with a lot less energy and enthusiasm.
