If you were given a challenge like last nights episode,"The Big Give"to give away $100,00 in 24 Hrs.,you can't spend $500.00 on any one person,or $10,000 at any one place. It sounds easy, while watching the show last night,my husband and i started talking about how we would do it.My first thought would be to find a Boys and Girls club or what i've always wanted to do is to help needy children. To me,being in a city that i wasn't familiar with, and only had 24 hrs.,with limits,i think it would be easier said than done. How about you? What would you do?

I think I would have liked to buy a bunch of goats, chicken and cows through organizations that help poor families in africa and asia to rebuild a life with income. maybe I would buy computers for schools in poor areas. Give courses in reading to illiterats. Stuff like that. Something that would give people the chance to help themselves

I suppose they could, not sure. But they had to deliver and give away in 24 hrs,and spend no more than $500 on any one person,or give $10,000 to any one place...i don't know, but i just really doubt i could do it,being in a strange city

I would give $450 between charities and families a total of 250 of them.., in different cities/countries/part of the world. So it wouldnt be at any one place. I think it would work out.

Thank You for responding,a good idea, that would work if you didn't have to stay in one city.I think it would be very hard to be limited to one place ,to give away so much in so little time.

Well I would donate it all. I would donate $10,000 to Salvation army. I would Donate $10,000 to the Police department. I would donate $10,000 to the Humane society. I would donate $10,000 to the Hospital. Then I would walk around to the old people apartments and give 20 people 500.00 each which would be $10,000. Nock on doors and the first 20 people get the money. Then on to the next old persons home to spend another $10,000. We have about 6 of these old persons homes. So there thats how I would spend $100,000 in 24 Hours. Good discussion by the way!!

sitting here,i thought about it....they weren't allowed to give cash away tho...so how could you do something to help the elderly people etc....without giving cash?maybe pick one or two of their bills adding up to $500 a piece? Then to have only 24 hrs to do all this in?I don't think i could do it. lol...but i would give it my best shot

Well thank you. WELCOME!! I added you as a friend. It is hard when your new to get responses. I dont know why but people are "afraid" of new people. I will try to answer as many of your posts as I can to help you get a jump on things. Well if I cant give it away to the elderly I would do like you said and pay off a bill for them or put it twards there rent so they dont have to worry about it for a couple months. Might not happen in 24 hours but I sure would give it my best effort. This was a great post by the way!!

I would start by giving $5000 to each of the no-kill shelters in Missouri, then I'd give $5000 to each of my immediate family (Mom and Stepdad, Grandma, each of 3 Brothers, each of 2 Nephews and a Niece), I'd put 10,000 in a trust fund for my cat so that if she outlives me someone can take of her and I'd buy a huge section of land and build houses on it for myself and Hubby and each of my immediate family. I don't know if that follows the rules but that's what I would do. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

This is a good discussion Cherokee-Rose,for me I to think I would be giving the 10,000, to the local Salvation Amry, Goodwill, ARC. then perhaps off to some of the private schools and donate to them as scholarship funds for children who can not afford private schools. Then I would go to the battered womens shelters and give 500.00 for each women there, towards their needs. I can think of so many ways really. You could also go to the local foodshelves, and homelss shelters. another thing would be to donate to the childrens cancer hospital, or any hospital for that matter that helps the less fortunate. So I guess the 1st thing I would do is pull out the local yellow pages, to locate where those places were.

Thank You Deea, That is a great idea....thank you for responding :)I think i could find so many ways to give, and so many places and people i would love to help, but i just don't think i could do it all with these limits on me in 24 hrs.The challenge was,you couldn't hand anyone person cash money but you could spend it on them. The yellow pages, phone book tho would be a very good place to start...good idea! You would be in a strange town,so that would be a great tool!Thank you for responding :)Have a great day

Good responses... I would try to be a little creative... I would give: *$250 to 100 inner-city, low-income children to be able to go a Christian summer camp for a week. (That would be 25k total) *$500 for 50 low income preschool age children to attend music or dance/ballet classes/lessons for one year such as through Kindermusik or My Little Gym, etc. ($25,000) *Spend $500 for several nice outfits for a 10 mothers getting off welfare to go to work. ($5000) *Send 50 care packages (valued at $100 each) to missionaries living abroad - $5000 *Go to the gas station on the lower-income side of town and give 100 people $50 worth of gas = $5000 *Go to a grocery store on the lower inocme side of town and pay the grocery bills for 50 random people - about 200$ each - $10000 total *Buy 2 good used (not brand new, but good cars) for foster children getting ready to age out of the system - who had jobs and could afford insurance - $25000 I think that's 100k total! What a fun post!

Oops, I just realized I couldn't buy the cars for foster kids because that's way more that 500 bucks! I guess instead I would give $500 to 50 foster children (who were about to age out of the system) to help pay for college.

I would hand it out to the most neediest like the homeless population.I would pass out hundred dollar bills to them where ever i saw them regardless of their condition sober or drunk.

Very interesting question, Cherokee_Rose. Personally, I would use as much of it as I could within 24 hours towards the country's development, including the funding of various important facilities, including Charity organisations, better educational facilities/funding, deffinitely the animal rescue organisations as most of them receive no government funding whatsoever and depend solely upon contributions. I would also use as much of it as I could towards better funding of emergency services as I believe that they don't receive nearly enough government funding.
