If your parents have high blood pressure chances are you will get it too in your lifetime, this sounds scary to me does it to you? The suggestion here is that high blood pressure may run in the family we know that certain races such as afro americans tend to have more high blood pressure than the general population, what are your thoughts on this issue. do you have high blood pressure, did you parents have it, do your children have it?

I take 2 different pills for hypertension and both my parents have hypertension. I am not saying that this is the only reason why I have it but maybe it plays a part in it, I don't know.

yup, it's definitely true. i read from somewhere, if both ur folks have high hp, there's a 46% chance that the kids will have it too. if only on parent, 23%. But even if both parents do not have high bp, the kids can still develop it, coz as some previous posters have stated, it still depends on other factors such as diet etc. however, contrary to what someone mentioned, i don't think cholesterol has much direct association with high bp, except having too much of either is bad. lol.

High blood pressure depends on several factors, and one of the main factors is genetics. However, other elements such as stress level, activity level, weight, and diet. If you have a genetic predisposition for high blood pressure a doctor may tell you to monitor the other elements. High blood pressure runs in my family, but I'm actually within normal range because I keep track of it.

I dont think that high blood pressure may run in the family. That only 5% of cause, the biggest major that cause you get high blood pressure is your lifestyle, if you eat too much, and rarery doing sport and stress too much, you can get high blood pressure with very easy. so what do you think?

I have high blood pressure and my Doctor told me it was inherited from my Dad. He had high blood pressure and I remember him having quite a few nose bleeds due to this. This is what Mom told me the Doctor told Dad. He also said that there are other factors that contribute to it also.

I believe high blood pressure can run in your family. I have high blood pressure. My grandmother on my dads side had it as did my dad. My mother also has high blood pressure.
