With all the modern advances we have made in terms of medicines etc. why does it take so long to get a diagnosis? 2.5 yrs ago I eventually got a diagnosis, after having the illness for 15 years!!! (Just as well it wasn't life threatening!!) Does anyone else think the service we get now has deteriorated? Ultimately this can impact on quality or even possibly length of life.

I'm not sure if you even want my opinion because I don't go to the doctor and I don't take my kids to the doctor because the majority of the time they just want to give you pills and tell you to take these and come back if it gets worse or don't get better in so many days. I worked for 5 years in the medical field and it is sad what is going on now with the doctors and nurses. I think the majority of them have lost their professionalism, the empathy, and do it just for the money which in the medical field you take an oath of ethics and in that oath it talks about how you are to take care of the patient because they are usually in pain, agony, or hurting. In the last 2 years I have really seen the medical field go downhill. Even in the Army it is sad but true.

While the level of service has declined in some respects, people's expectations are unrealistic.
