Why Blame God?

Why is it that many people want to blame God for so many bad things that happen, murders, diseases, natural catastrophes, etc, but when good things happen to them and others they will say they did it themselves or Mother Nature is smiling on us or some such thing? Aren't they portraying God as a criminal that has done the bad things but none of the good things when they take such an attitude?

People blame "God" because they cannot take responsibility for their own actions. People want to blame "God" for everything because it is great to have a scapegoat who cannot actually answer you back. "God" is just a higher power, a force, a infinate being, it can spark some life or give motion and form to things, but it cannot change what is meant to be or what will happen. People have thoughts, feelings, and free will, so it is people who have to take matters into their own hands. "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter."-Yoda about the force and about life in general

I guess blaming is ultimately an act of pride b/c men are unwilling to admit to their own weaknesses and the consequences of them.

..I just hate it when people say a tornado or such, is an "act of God"! When actually, because God is God (the spark of Life itself) he actually experiences and lives through all suffering which ever occurs, and suffering itself came about because he endowed thinking ability to angel and man (which thinking ability eventually includes being able to choose). But if he then lives through all the indignations and horrible things which have ever occurred and will occur, why would he put himself through all that? Because he's not creating robots or an ant farm, but the best, a family!

Your post reminds me that God is always there through whatever I am facing. He not only goes thru the suffering with us, he carries us through it!

The reason why people blame God is because they do not realize that the earth was given to satan and all bad things and bad events are done by him. A popular belief is that everything happens for a reason is so untrue and I hate it when people say that because it is assuming that God has planned out our lives and knows what is going to happen and that is not true. If you read jobe you will see why things happen and that is what is happening today. Satan wants you to blame God and hate God so he is going to cause you as much suffering as he can and when you turn your back on God or never except him and blame him for everything then Satan wins and you lose.

You are right about that. Satan is always trying to deceive and make people blame God. Even though God doesn't plan and make bad things happen we know that if we serve him he will work everything out for our good.

People have egos. Bad things happen because people allow the devil into their lives. My life was in turmoil for along time untill I made my peace with god. There are still bad things all around you even when you beleive in god you just have to trust god will keep you safe. Plus i mean do people really think god wants earthquakes and what not to destroy what he built?

Ego is probably responsible for a lot of people's turmoil. Pride is an open door for the devil to be allowed in someone's life.

Its a natural thing for people to always blame someone, something for everything that is happening to them. I think many people just ask them why God allows them to have problems and not help them, when they are believing in him... It is said that we should not question him for the tough times and must call for him for help because we have never questioned him on good times that we have in our lives right? I guess people who blames God and not themselves are those who does not fully understand how God works.

To be able to understand how God works is a great blessing we should never take for granted. He is so big and wonderful we can always be learning new things about him. People who only have a casual interest may believe in God but it will be hard for them to understand many things until they make a true commitment to him.

This is a good discussion here Rumfelt. People blame God for all the wrong that goes on in their life simply because they don't want to take responsibility for their actions. The truth is, God doesn't "do" anything to us, he only allows us to follow the path that we have chosen with our own actions. God gave us free will, and when things go wrong in our life, if you take the time to examine it, its because of something that we have done. God wants nothing for us but the best. He loves all of us because we are his children. But, as it goes with children, he knows that we have to follow our own path. He doesn't interfere with free will. Even with natural disasters, if we were to look back, its because of what people have done to the environment. I, for one, do not blame God for anything that has gone wrong in my life, and I thank him immensely when things go right, and I am blessed with goodness. Unfortunately, a lot of people have it backwards.

I believe God is merciful in that he allows our consequences to show us how much better it it when we do things his way. To him be the praise and the glory.

Thank you for the best response. It is a good feeling when you post something that was just your own feelings, and someone else views it as the best response they've gotten.

I think that a number of people have a "fear" of God. Always, when something happens that they lose a loved one, they say it's the work of God. Why did He let this happen, etc. Like when I lost my seven year old grandson to cancer... his mum didn't "blame" God, but she lost her belief in Him, in her grief. The problem here, I think, is the Christian belief in Judgement Day. They feel they're being judged along the way, and that they will be judged again, when they make their journey to the Otherworld. I'm not going to argue against these beliefs... it's just what I think might be the problem. My view is that no individual is wrong in their beliefs, as long as they feel comfortable with it, but you have to admit, some stories are scary. For instance, Satan is sited as the "bad guy" and God as the "good guy", but why then, does he judge his children and punish them? This is bound to be the cause of some of the feelings, isn't it? I believe in fate, and also that several energies come together to form a "supreme power". Therefore, my beliefs are slightly different. But I do believe that, everything happens for a reason, and therefore will not blame the powers, but myself, for not learning the lesson earlier, and taking the right steps to correct my mistake. The same is apparent when something goes right... I have been set a lesson by the powers that be... if I learn it well, I pass the test, and am rewarded. But, that's down to me, not God, or any other deity or power. Brightest Blessings.

I think a lot like you, only I view God as my teacher that helps me through when bad things happen. When we learn our lessons well and pass the tests that come our way, it will make us resilient and strengthen our faith.

It's not good for us people to say thing against God that is a sin. They say that because of lack of faith to God. They are saying the words that they don't no and don't use their brain to think of what they say, that's what they good at blaming all their faults to God. But who Cut trees to prevent flood, who damage the ozone layer, who did the murder, Why there are diseases because of our own fault. Why we blame God for all of these where we know that it's us who must blame of all these things.

God is all good all the time and when men turn away from God to go their own way and they make a mess of things they want to blame God when it's really their fault. No one should blame God.

people blamed God? uhuh?... For me Its wrong! God supposed to blame Man!!! Everything was so arranged since the beginning of creation... even man not yet existed! I was learning biochemistry, i couldnt imagine, how everything complex comes from the very small part, and it has the smallest of the small portion... size that is really incredible, but they do exist and doing the metabolism in nature way with very arrange system! Man is the most complex things that really different from other creation... Man has brain, as monkey, cat and pig... But brain in man is totally different from lower "cast" animals, since lower animal's brains only for acts of animals and man's brain for acts of man and human acts! Human acts makes man differs from animals because with human acts, man has its knowledge, freedom, and voluntariness... Man can do bad or good acts... they can be greedy or maybe grateful... man can be responsible or may irresponsible person! God never be a criminal, since he is the source of law itself which is the creator of the eternal laws--the root of the natural laws--source of all laws. Eternal laws and natural laws maybe not written but its exist even before man exist. Only man's brain which is really unpredictable and wanna violate the rules of natural law... hmmm... man is the one who makes his own norms but still he will violate it with many reasons~logical or illogical reason... just protect his righteousness. Man has no right to blame God, since man is the one who makes this world become better or worse. If you believe in God~ espc if you;re a Christian, God creates this world as something GOOD! But because man disobeyed him--- SIN... Do you think we should blame God? Or God supposed to blame us? ahahha lol... that's something that i learned from my christian ethics in college btw... have a nice day!

you make a good point. Even people that love God still have to seek him to get a right perspective of who he is.

Oh, I never blame God. Instead, I always say thank you to Him for letting me learned from bad experiences. I am just so happy to know that God will always be with me all the time, in good times and in bad times. God is that supernatural power who gives me more strength every day to fight for my sickness and for all the problems i am currently facing. Also, I am so thankful to Him for making my family safe from harm. I praise you O' Lord.

What a beautiful attitude you have! God is always ready to take your spirit of heaviness when you put on the garment of praise. Isaiah 61:3. Keep on keeping on and don't let anything dampen your zeal.

It makes it so much easier to blame the bad things on a higher being i guess...or blame it on fate. Who wants to blame something like cancer or a tornado on people...and its just a way to explain things in a "mythical" manner i guess

It is natural to take the easy way and assign blame I guess. Taking responsibility and trusting God through the bad times are hard things to do but ultimately more rewarding as they will bring peace to us, whereas blame only brings bitterness and depression.
