Please don't make this blogging mistake...

I keep seeing people suggesting that you keep your blog somewhere like blogger or wordpress. Please don't keep a blog there. It's okay to start there, but once you get the money you should move it to your own domain. It really doesn't cost that much to host your own blog. I have more information in the following blog post:

It's better to own your own blog on your own domain. Currently I back my blogger based blog (In my Mylot profile) on the internet, at a site called Blog Backup Online. I also subscribe to my own feeds as a secondary backup measure...

Good post there Deanna! To me the key to hosting your own blog and domain is that it belongs to you entirely and can do whatever you want with it without restrictions.
Also as a sharing... you might want to change your permalinks to show your post titles in the url. This will help you tremendously in terms of SEO.

I agree whole heartedly and will just reinforce it that i you are planning on making money or are serious about generating traffic you need to plan out the entire site before you ever make your first post. if you homepage is the front page of your domain, you need to keep it that way if you blog is going to be in a separate directory or subdomain you need to put it there and not touch it. You need to be conscious of every small detail too and put some real thought into.
