My 11 year old is driving me crazy

She has a nice mp3 player but I am so tired of hearing everyone else has an iPod. While I was out looking for my mp3 player yesterday she was going spastic looking at the iPod's. LOL I told her I was trying to win her won. I am on a lucky streak, if you know me, you know all about my big wins last year. Anyhow I won her a Nintendo DS lite last year, so my goal is the iPod. I told her that if I don't win one she could get one for Christmas but that would probably be all. So what is so great about an iPod versus just a regular mp3 player? Remember I finally broke down and bought myself one yesterday. DH has had one for about 2 years and both my girls (yes even my 6 year old has one) have had one for about a 18 months and the youngest has had hers for almost a year.

My first thought was that it seems time she had a job list that she got paid for and started to learn for herself how far a $$ goes and the effort involved in earning them. Failing that set her up with her own little yard sale and let her sell some of her prized possessions to make the bucks for what she "wants"! its amazing how when it effects them their perspectives and desires may suddenly change.

She has been saving her money. So I do give her credit for doing that! Most kids would blow through it.

Yes and you must be doing a good job as you can say no to your child in my job I see so many parents who are utterly incapable of saying no and worse the more they demand the more they give in.
