Hi, sure I can to the best of my ability. It is one of two dances from Cajun country. One is the Cajun Two Step and the other is Zydeco. The Cajun Two Step and the Waltz are danced to Canju music. Zydeco is danced to a bluzey music. You can hear some of both of these on a lot of commericials lately. I love Zydeco, there is more lovement, Cajun seems more like just hopping on one foot to me which I fild tiring. From what I have been told, originally Zydeco was a subtle movement of the hips with very little other body movment. I am from Baltimore and that is where I learned how to dance as there is a huge contigent of Z dancers in the Baltimore/DC area. Now the dance has pretty much been bastardized and there is a lot of movement from all over the body. I was also told, that Cajun was originally from the white people and Zydeco from the black people who created these genre's. When I started dancing it was mostly white people who danced. The music makes you want to move your feet, it energizes you, it comes up, seemingly out of the floor and takes you over. I am not a high energy person, but it gave me energy and I would dance nights after work in DC, dance every dance, drive home, and go to bed around 3 am and then go to work the next day. I have to say that once the music stopped I could feel the energy seeping out of my body straight through the floor. I have moved away from the area and have suffered some ankle injuries. I have not danced in a long time and I really miss it. If you can find a place where you can dance, they usually have a lesson the hour before the dance. Wear shorts, and a t-shirt and men take an extra t-shirt and a towel. Gals dress for hot, hot, hot, a mini dress, with short, shors underneath. anything cool, you really get the toxins out when you dance. I would have to dry my hair to go to the car in the winter so my hair would not freeze. I will check back and see if anyone has questions.

Oh gee, I am sorry, it looks like one of us can't spell or proofread and that person would be ME. I mean to say. White or black cultures of the Arcadians (not people). Also there is more "movement" not lovement Please forgive the other typing errors. I am not allowed to cut and paste yet being a newbie here. also... The waltz is done at Zydeco dances giving us a bit of relief to catch our breath. The dance is very sexy and originally it was basically a shifting of the hips. right left right... left right left. The dance is the same now but steps and movement around the floor and what ever dramatic move the partners can or want to add to the dance. Hope this helps, there are many who could give a better history of this dance than myself.
