I am so proud of my son, I think my heart has stopped!

My son just brought home his first report card for the time since he has been living with me. He got straight A's and not only that he got an award from the school for Superior Achievement & Excellence of Performance in Academic Effort. I am so proud of him that I can't stop crying. We promised him a puppy, and a puppy he will have. This is the first time that he has ever brought home a report card of this standing, let alone an award for academic excellence. I can't begin to tell you how very proud I am of this little boy. YEAH JACOB!!!!!

I am very happy. Jacob is 11 and is in the 5th grade. He should be in the 6th, but I held him back in kindergarten, because I just didn't think he was ready socially.

Your right to be proud and your son is a credit to you! Congratulations to you son, I hope he enjoys the St Bernard (just a suggestion lol) puppy :)

LOL. I think a St Bernard would be just a bit large for a two bedroom apt. I'm thinking more along the lines of something like a pug or a chihuahua.

Aye I think you might be right lol :)

Yes, he is a source of great pride for me. But then again even if he didn't get A's I'd still be proud of him, because I like him so much as a person.

Woo Hoo! Congratulations to your son Jacob. He has worked hard and deserves a pat on the back. I know how proud you must be. What kind of puppy are you going to get? Will you go to the local rescue center or buy one elsewhere?
• United States
7 Apr 08
Yes, we will be going to the Humane Society. To buy one elsewhere is much too costly. Have you been to a pet store lately. They want a couple of thousand for their dogs.

That is fantastic, you have a right to be proud! He should be proud of himself too, excellent and what a lovely reward he will get, no wonder he worked so hard! The only trouble you have now is finding another reward to offer him to make sure he keeps it up. My boys always try their hardest at school, at the moment they are only 6 and 7 so I offer them cash for good rewards but I am going to think of something more interesting to offer them just as an extra incentive I think! Not a puppy though, I have not got the time to look after it and I know that is what would happen!!

We have already decided that the next report card it will be a bike. He had to leave his bike in California and doesn't have one here. Every 11 year old boy should have a bike. LOL. I hope you come up with something creative for your children.

Congratulations! Now, you might want to treat him, say, Mc Donalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken or perhaps, buy a gallon of ice cream. I'm sure your son will be more inspired to maintain his good academic standings because he saw how he made you so happy with his achievement. I wonder what kind of puppy it will be. A chehuahua would be cute. Or maybe he already specifified what breed he likes to have.

I did end up taking him out for chicken that night and I bought him a new toy. The puppy will have to wait until next payday unfortunately, but it will be a smaller dog. He likes pugs.

Jacob is in the 5th grade, he should be in the 6th, but I held him back in kindergarten because I didn't feel he was socially ready to advance. As soon as he gets his puppy I will post a picture of them together.

I'd like to take some credit for it, but I haven't been able to spend as much time with him as I like, due to working. I've told my new boss though, that when he's making my schedule, I'd like him to consider those factors into it.

Well considering where he was and where is he now, the grades he brought home are a marked improvement.
