My husband showed me the most amazing site tonight. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love history and this was just amazing. Apparently, individuals from the 1800's did experiments with sound vibrations on paper and scientist today were able to take these and with the proper technology put sound to them. So, these are actual recordings from the 1800's. Here is the link to the online article: http://www.firstsounds.org/sounds/ If you click on the iinks on the page, you can download the recordings to hear the world's earliest recordings. It's not as clear as you would hear things today but non the less, for all history lovers out there, it's truly amazing! Please, after you have heard the recordings, tell me what you think of them....

Thank you for an interesting and informative post. We have certainly come a long way, but there was ssome value to a time when nobody had boom boxes and the tranquility of public places was not punctuated with the screeching of people misusing their cell phones.
