Lately for the past month I've been having pain in my knees. They only hurt when I go up and down the stairs or if I have to bare weight on them to stand up or get in the car. When I squat down they hurt.My doctor's appointment is next week on the 9th.Have any idea what may be causing this pain?Have you ever had knee pain like this or know anybody that has?

Hi disvachic, there are many different thing that can cause the pain in your knees, the best thing is to let your doctor check you out. My doctor put me on a cholesterol medication called Vytorin and it messed up the joints in my knees and elbows so bad that I could not even walk up and down the stairs, I could not bend down or even stand too long. I was in so much pain until I stopped the medicine and it all disappeared. I had him put me on something else. That one medicine just messed me up terribly, it works differently on everyone and it wasn't good for me.

Thank you, it was amazing how it all disappeared after I stopped the medicine. Some people don't realize that even medicines can cause some bad side effects. Good luck with your doctor's appointment. Keep us informed.

It may be Arthritis from some old injuries that you have. I know for me, my weight causes my legs and knees to hurt at times. I also have tendonitis from old injuries. They tend to really act up with the weather. I take Ibuprophen, it seems to work very well for the pain.

Ask your doctor about a cortizone shot. That's what I have to have for the tendonitis in my knee.

I am having problems with mine lately. I believe it may be a touch of arthritis, but not certain just yet. I have to see a doctor in May and will have her check my knees then. I stand for most of the day and rarely sit. The pain in my knees is more evident when I walk up stairs and not so much going down.

Physiotherapy would be the best if it's just strained ligaments or something pulled. I've had a lot of injuries while playing sports and majority of the time, physio always helped. Oh, do you notice any swelling around the knee?

It sounds like you might be getting that darn Arthritis. Have you injured you knees, fell on the ice or something. I fell a few months ago, there was ice on the sidewalk. I went down hard on my knees, they still hurt. It does take time for your knees to heal. I know of people having problem with the cartiledge in their knees. Our knees do take a beating everyday. Good luck I hope its nothing serious and they get to feeling better soon.

probably not enough information to go on but I can tell you what has effected my own knees. my knees pain me when the weather is humid, impending rain etc. my knees ache me from arthritis. I carry a bit of extra weight which has also affected my knees. When I was a teen I popped my patella out of socket and a bit down my leg, this tore on the ligaments and tissues surrounding the knee cap as well. it took a good long while to heal - and I think in my old age that pain is revisited frequently.
