Dance with my father again....

I got melancholic this mornign again because of such a lovely song for dead fathers. I creid so hard and listened to the song many times and I remember my father. It broke my heart, it was a long time when we last danced and I know we will never have that chance again. Im sharing the lyrics of the song that pricked my heart: "Any man can be a Father, but it takes a special person to be called Dad." Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then Spin me around 'til I fell asleep Then up the stairs he would carry me And I knew for sure I was loved If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him I'd play a song that would never, ever end How I'd love, love, love To dance with my father again When I and my mother would disagree To get my way, I would run from her to him He'd make me laugh just to comfort me Then finally make me do just what my mama said Later that night when I was asleep He left a dollar under my sheet Never dreamed that he would be gone from me If I could steal one final glance, One final step, one final dance with him I'd play a song that would never, ever end 'Cause I'd love, love, love To dance with my father again Sometimes I'd listen outside her door And I'd hear how my mother cried for him I pray for her even more than me I pray for her even more than me I know I'm praying for much too much But could you send back the only man she loved I know you don't do it usually But dear Lord she's dying To dance with my father again Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream Listen to this song its really nice! Heres the link of the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvW6nuQ2B0s

This is so deep and profound that I feel like crying as well. Some songs, poems are so beautiful that we can relate to every bit of it. They are thus universal and never die. 'Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thoughts'....very rightly said. Thanks dear for sharing this.

I've heard this song before, and it's very profound and powerful, but made even moreso in this video. Thank you for sharing it with us, my friend. Your crying is only a release of pent up emotions down the years, and it will get easier. I feel that if you want it enough, and there is a special bond between you and your father, you will dance again, in the otherworld. So, take peace in that thought. Maybe some day, if you believe in reincarnation as I do, you'll meet your father again through the "man of your life", and in dancing with him, you'll be able to find that special feeling that you had for your father, all over again. Just believe, my friend. Brightest Blessings, and my the eternal light guide you safely back to the loving arms of your father. xx

My friend, you are moving on. When you recall the good memories, you can be sure your father's spirit is beside you. Try talking with him... he can't answer but let him know how you feel... how much you miss him. There's no shame in that. It helps so much to know they're there. x

I am glad that you also liked this song.Yes crying is a way of releasing the pain that I thought I got over with the day we buried father but each memory and each occasion makes me want to cry as I bring back memories with him.Its about moving on moving forward, I know he is also dancing with our heavenly father and want us to do our mission in this world. Thank you for your time and have a nice day!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. My real father is not in my life, but my step-father is.. and that is my dad to me. Anyway, that song always makes me think of my stepfather and what my life would be like if he were gone. I already lost my mother, so it makes me sad to think that I'm getting older and eventually that dreadful day will happen when both of my parents will be gone.

Thats a great outlook my friend, if your father was not like that to you, you can be that kind of father to your children, the kind that they could shed a tear when they remember you. Have a nice day and please hug your children for me, real tight. Take care and God bles!

well, its not a very good memeory of your father and you also discovered his womanizing escapades. What I am happy about is that you have decided to make a difference and didt not follow the not so good example of your father. Its nice to live a peaceful life with your family. Im sure your father was not happy about it and hopefully he has repented about that sin and let go of it. It might have caused your mother heart ache, but I hope she is ok now.

i grew up seeing my dad seldom for he is always outside of the country. he is in a band. when he is home all they do was quarrel. i also heard that he has a lot of girlfriends... harharhar. thats what i heard from my mom while i was growing. when i am in the right age already he put me in his band and found out that one of the singers is my dads girlfriend. well i have my own family now and i want it just like it is. simple quiet and loving family. i will be a good role model for my child and i will try my very best not to hurt my wife like my dad did to my mom. lucky you for having a wonderful dad.

The song made me really cry. There is just regret in there and longing for the things with ones loved ones that could never happen ever again. It makes me think again that I have to cherish my father or parents as much as I could now and show them how much I love them so much. I am not so much for words when it comes to my parents because they are too reserved but I have to let them know somehow how important they are to me and how much they mean to me.

Hi Zelmarq, Thanks for sharing this beautiful, touching song. I've never heard it before. I'm sorry that you no longer have your dad with you. The loss of a loving parent, is such a very hard thing. My dad passed away when I was five years old, and I'm now in my fifties. I have some very vague memories of him, but never really got the chance to know him. My husband passed away when my daughter (now 16), was just two years old. She really doesn't remember him at all. Having a wonderful dad with us, is a very precious thing, and should never be taken for granted. Take care.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I was way too young, and so it's often like I never had a father at all. My heart aches for my daughter too, as she was even younger than I, when her dad passed away. Although you have wonderful memories of your father, which is a great thing, I know how much harder his loss would be on you, at the time, because you were so much older than I. Small children just cannot grasp the impact of such an event, until they're much older. Take care.

I also love that song so very dearly. It tells the life story of so many of us who have lost our father. (lol) The relationship you shared with your father seems to have been just so beautiful. I can just imagine how much you miss and wish you had him near once again. (lol)

That was a beautiful song...I never heard it till now. I wished I could remember more of my dad, but he passed away when I was 6 yrs old, that was 30 yrs ago. I can't remember him that well, I remember a few things but I was too young. I just hear about him from my aunts and uncles about how he was and what he was like. I have a few pictures, not many. I remember seeing him sing and play the guitar, he used to act like Elvis.. But I know one of these days, I'll see him again, and we'll sing and play music together..

well that kind of chokes you up doesn't it? It has been six months now since my precious father has passed away and it is still a raw wound in my heart - so I do commiserate with you. Daddy used to carry me around on his shoulders when I was little and we went on hikes through the mountains... he used to airplane me up the stairs to bed, so the song reminded me of those times.

Good morning Zelmarq! Thanks that was beautiful song. I know what he was singing. I lost my father in 1985. I do wish my dad was still here. But I know he's in a much better place and dancing with the angels.
