Cleaning as a Hobby I enjoy???

I just saw cleaning as an interest as a hobby I enjoy. I had to say NO. I don't enjoy cleaning. I get it done. It is a chore. Something that needs doing. I like when it is over. I like a clean house. I like tips on making the job faster and easier. But there is no way it is a hobby and I surely don't enjoy it. I didn't think there was anyone in the world who actually liked doing it. I mean maybe you don't mind doing it but actually love cleaning???
So are there any Mylotters who actually love to clean? Something you enjoy doing every day? Would go over to other people's houses and clean them just for the fun of it? If so do you need directions to my house?

I like to clean too, well actually I like to see the result of my cleaning. I love getting up in the morning and finding everything all clean and spik and span. I like orderliness. When I was a kid my mothers favorite expression was everything has a place and everything in it's place. I even like to see the dirt going as I progress through my cleaning tasks. It may not be as much fun as a trip to Disneyland but it is better than living in a pigsty. A person can learn to like anything if they rationalize it to themselves properly.

Actually I love to clean too but I have to love because i have no other option, I have a white dog and his fur everywhere, I cant stand to see his fur on the floor or on couch or some other places so I clean the house everyday and sometimes twice a day. And actually I love it :)

Good discussion. Cleaning is not a hobby to me!!! Now I got some flak from DH when a friend had a baby and I went over to help clean her house. This was her 4th child (an emergency C-section), completely unplanned because she had one graduating from high school, plus two more. So I went over one day dusted, did the dishes (no dishwasher), vacuumed the floors, put stuff in her attic, with her sons help, laundry, etc.
I actually enjoyed doing this because I knew she needed the help. We have been friends for 7 years, and my DH actually went to school with her and her brothers.
The thing that we laughed about the most was here I was a white woman cleaning her house and she was African American. She said if only her mom and grandmom could have seen us and how times have changed.
I left feeling so good because she really appreciated my help, especially since her boys were at an age that having a baby was putting a cramp in their style!!!!

You are a very nice friend to do that. You also raise a point about enjoying doing someone else's housework. I kinda don't mind doing a friends housework once and a while too to help out. I sometimes think that I just get bored cleaning the same stuff again and again. Like what is the point, it is just going to be dirty really soon. Where with someone else's stuff it is something different.

I cannot accept cleaning as a hobby, and surely it cannot be added as an interest in hobbies. How can one take cleaning and dusting as hobbies. I didn't notice it till you mentioned that Vicki,
Otherwise my house is clean but not freaky clean as I would like it to be. After I started going to office with my husband my house is suffering, before that it was clean anyway. I used to remove clutter then, now I am again trying to remove that clutter which seems to have come up in some rooms. I am also looking out for someone to do that for me.

Nope I hate doing it, I like a clean house but I hate what you have to do to get it!! I could never have it as a hobby, a hobby is something you do in your spare time for enjoyment, cleaning is just a chore we get landed with when we grow up and leave home and get our own places!!

I say I enjoy cleaning, but like you, it is more that I enjoy the fruits of my labor. No, I would not go to someones house and clean just for the fun of it. I do enjoy a challenge- getting a stain out, cleaning the mud room floor, etc...but in general I would rather just wake up and have the house clean.

I can only say just me toooooo. If someone will clean it for me. I'll be the happiest person in the whole world. I hate that chore. Dusting is allergic to me. If I start then aaaccchhhhoooo .... I'll start off... I forget to count how many at times. So my husband sometimes does it.

I also like cleaning,but i my house my mother and wife to all those cleaning work.If my wife is alone i help my wife in cleaning.

I have the same attitude you do..its a chore that needs to get done..but by NO MEANS has/is/will it EVER be a "hobby" to me LOL..

I don't consider cleaning as a hobby but an exercise. It is the only time that I am able to move my fatty body and sweat too much. Every time I do cleaning I just thought that I'm in the gym just to enjoy it but yeah it is a chore.

I like to clean my room but that is after long span.As i am living out of my home city at a rented accomodation i do get time only on the weekend but i love cleanliness and a cant continue my work untill and unless all the things are being properly set and clean.

Yes even I like cleaning my house.We should not consider that as a burden.Enjoy and doing.Cleanliness is next godliness.So lotters let keep our environment clean....:)

Wow i don't know if you can find anyone who likes to clean, if you do though send them my way and they can clean my house just for fun anytime, lol.
What really gets me is the people who work as maids, they clean all day long and then come home to clean their own house, how crappy would that be
