Bold letters in responses/ discussion? How?

I have seen many responses and topics of myLotters where certain words are in bold letters to give highlight. Also I have seen some words that appear to have a link. How possibly are these done here in myLot? Im confused as there are no editing bar in the box where we type or responses or topics. Can someone tell me how to do bold letters or highlighting? Thanks!

I have never seen them and I don't really know what it looks, like, I have no idea if they are putting in special codes or what.
