I went to pick up some items I had purchased at a local auction this morning and this item is kind of cute I think. It was purchased with a $3 winning bid. It is about 12 inches tall by 10 inches wide. I may repaint it to look more like a local variety of woodpecker. But for now I plan on setting it in my front yard or on my deck once things get nicer in Minnesota. So do you have any lawn ornaments that you love? Share a photo if possible too please. How many do you have total? I have 2 gnomes that were left out this winter and are shot due to the tremps and moisture etc so I needed more. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

When we bought this house nearly 5 years ago the lawns were very bad and dried to the bone. No flowers etc. It is now one of the nicer looking lawns in the neighborhood thanks to my hard and dillegent work. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

When we bought our house 10 yrs ago, it was in a mess.. Then I started adding a few flowers each year, I can't afford to do it all at once.. But if you stick with it and do a few at a time, the perennials will keep multiplying and spreading out, some of them can be divided to make more.. I had one huge hosta come up the first spring in the last house that I lived in and before it was over, I had 20 of them.. I spread them out into different areas of my yard and they grew like weeds but looked better.. Get your friends to give you cutting or extra bulbs in the springtime, some of them do grow so fast and so big that they have to be divided and a lot of people will share with you.. I try to get everything that I can into my yard that will come back the next year and so far it is working.. I even had 5 of the biggest brightest Tulips growing in a flower bed this year, first time since we moved in here 10 yrs ago, my neighbor said that she bet a squirrel had planted it thinking that it was hiding its food for the winter, hope he doesn't come back looking for it because they are beautiful.. Do a little at a time and it will add up to a very nice yard and you will get to watch the results of your work.. The outcome of your garden or yard will outweigh the input.. I always remember what my little 90 yr old mother always used to say as we were growing up, "Every little bit helps said the old woman as she peed in the ocean".. Good advice to remember, enjoy and live by..

You do real well with this auction. Bulk dog food & ornaments. Excellent. On your front deck would be a nice place for them, seeing as how it is bare at the moment. Then again, people may steal it. What does Buster think of all these ornaments? You know how I mentioned in a previous response to you that I only had cat ornaments out the back... one day Max was chasing a mouse. Max thought it went under the largest cat ornament, & as it has a hole under it, Max stuck his head up the cats b....

Buster has never messed with any of our other lawn decorations so these are no problems. These will more than likely be setting along side some flowers or my apple trees this spring and summer not the deck. I'll have too many planters and boxes on the deck. Up the cats rear? Now that would have been a Kodak Moment. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have a gnome, or had a gnome.. It was always my good luck gnome and my son always said that when he married and moved out, he was taking it with him.. This was a good-natured running argument with Josh and myself for about the last 8 yrs.. It had weathered 10 winters in my yard and looks like he did the day he was purchased, almost like new.. Well, my son married and moved out, when he decided to take the gnome, his wife said "no way", she thought they were bad luck.. Well, as you can imagine, I had to straighten her out, they now have the good luck gnome in their front yard.. I can imagine that your yard ornaments would take a beating from the weather, so you were in luck when you found the new ones.. I have 3 deer, a huge terra cotta shell, and 2 big pieces of driftwood in my flower beds, need more flowers.. have a great evening, Donna

I have 2 gnomes that sat outside all winter. Well let me correct that, I have 1 & 2/3 gnomes. One was broken by my son with his basketball. The wheelbarrow with a frog in it got broken off as well as did the gnomes arms. They are both paint faded now from the weather and I want new ones but they are going for outrageous prices now days as they seem so popular. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~
