Store Bought DVD's vs Burned DVD's.....

DVD Collection - Someone's DVD collection...

My husband and I love to collect DVD's and we have a variety of DVD's in our collection. Last week we bought a new computer, which has a DVD burner and my husband has been burning DVD's. I'm not sure whether I want DVD's that I burn or if I want to continue to buy them at the stores. I like having the nice case and things to go with it but does that really matter? I mean, the hubby says it's the same thing except the look is diffrent but I'm thinking perhaps we should just use the burner for movies that are rare and hard to find. What do you all think in regards to this? Would you just continuing burning the movies that you want in your collection or would you just burn the ones that are not easy to purchase? Does it matter?

I would much rather buy the movies from the stores or go on a search to find movies that could be rare. I would prefer to buy movies instead of burning them cause if i burned them I would feel like i was stealing them.

Yeah, but you know you can burn a dvd from a relative who has bought the CD already. That's not really stealing. What's the diffrence from compying that than anything else from them but I can see where you're coming from.

actually there are websites that you can download and burn first run movies, there are guys i know who will rent a movie then burn it,if i buy a DVD from the store and make a copy then sell it ,are these all illegal?the problem is not the person who burns the DVDs it the companies the create the means to burn the movies i think is responsible don't you think?before when i tried to burn certain movies i couldn't but not with certain programs i can and these programs are available to everyone!its a much bigger problem than the movie industry can fix i think, the ones they copy from a movie theatre i think is so dark and burns my eyes aren't even worth a penny so i think the industry need not worry about those they are garbage, you are better off to but the originals anyhow,or spoil your eyes!is that worth the lesser price?

Yeah, definitely but my husband doesn't sell them and we don't burn the ones that have been taken illegally in a theater. Now THAT is illegal...

Actually i can't totally agree with you about buying from the stores, your DVDS ,let me give you an example,i almost bought bee movie on DVD from the store but i happened to see it before i did!what a short boring movie and do you know how much they wanted for it at the video store?three times as much as you would if you burned it!the case may be nice and all but the movie better be good before i spend my hard earn cash in the video store!

I think it's more practical to have dvd burned. However, if you are into collecting them, I think the original ones are more practical because it can retain its value and quality. For me I would buy the original and just make a copy of it for my daily use so that the original will not get old.

Yeah, I see what you're saying but I buy them to watch them and not have them sit there unused. If they get ruined I could always buy another one. Thanks!
