Saving your money

Are you currently saving for anything? Or do you save just to have more money. I am currently saving to buy a puppy. It seems like it is taking forever to save to get a puppy but when I have enough money to go and buy one it will be well worth it. Now my grandmother saves just to save. Recently she lost all her money, her second husband spent all her money without her knowledge. She had been saving for years. She had almost 500 thousand dollars saved in the bank. Money she will never see now that her second husband spent it all. I guess what I am trying to say is, Isn't it better to live for the moment and buy what you want instead of saving, saving, saving? Because the money could be gone just like that and you hadn't even seen a dime of it

I don't really wanna buy anything right now... But whatever I make from work I try to save it because I don't own a house or a car, so I need to start saving and stop spending. But I usually end up buying gadgets for my computer and musical instruments... I hope I can get over this habit :) What kind of Puppy do you want??

I want to buy an english bulldog. I don't drive either. But between a car payment, insurance payments and the steady rising of gas prices I am fine without having a car. It would kill me if a whole paycheck would have to go to the car. I am very happy walking or if need be taking public transportation

Right now I am saving for a vacation. I want to take the girls to the ocean this summer. My youngest hasn't ever been and my oldest may be out on her own next year and so it could be the last vacation that we will take together for awhile. I hope that I can make enough here to pay for the gas and then the other money will all be for spending.

These little savings will add up. I tend to just let the money sit in paypal. If I do not have the actual money on my debit card I tend not to spend it. Good luck on getting a house

In my opinion, saving money is a good habit and you can have a good plan of your money, if you spend much money to buy what you want, how could you do when you have some urgent things which need much money?

you make some good points, but I do tend to disagree with you, I think we should all live for the moment. Spend and be happy while you a here.

Enjoying life is a way of people,I agree with you, however everthing has it limitation. It determined how much can you control yourself.May be you can have a plan that you can think about how much you can deposit and how much you can spend.

When I was a child,I desperate to save money.you know ,a big tin of coins and cash. That's my favourite treasure at that time. But one day,my father told me that a man who can earn a lot of money must be a man who know how to use money not just saving money. After that ,I understand that money is not my treasure but the attitude to the money.

I have change jars too. It has become a natural thing for me just to throw my loose change into a jar. It doesn't even feel like saving but it does add up. My boyfriend jokes and calls me the coin star.

I used to have bad habit in spending, and it leads to owing money to the bank by personal loan and credit card. That's the worst thing I could ever done to my life. My wife was very upset with this and despite my big mistake she helped me to pay them off. I thanked her for this and I swear never ever borrowing money again. Now that I've learned my lesson and nowadays I worked so hard to payback her. To be honest I did save although it's very little but at least there's something that I can use in emergency. I am now saving for paying airline ticket for holiday in 7 months time and try to suppress my expenses.

your story is so common, one of the reason why I never got caught up in the whole credit card industry, I have never had a credit card and never plan on getting one. They only help us go into debt. If i want something I'll save for it instead of going to the store and crediting

I agree with you. In the process of trying to save, we end up denying ourselves of some things we need and want and at a point in time, I just sit back to ask myself what I'm saving for if I can't get what I want and then I end up spending all my money and see the need to save and I just keep going through the same process hoping for something better. In conclusion, I think the best way to save is investing part of your income or whatever, that way, you can afford to spend and still know that a portion of your income is somewhere yielding returns.

Oh my goodness, that is awful what happened to your grandmother! How did her husband get a hold of her account? Or was it a joint account where he had access to it? I'm trying to save just to save, but it seems to be an impossible task, especially with the price of living nowadays. It doesn't help that my husband wants a new motorcycle. And with there being a slowdown at his job, his dream will take forever to become a reality, if ever. I was able to save some money last year for a car. I thought I'd never get one! LOL Good thing I got it when I did though as we probably would have spent this money on other things by now. So what breed of puppy are you looking to buy?

No they had separate accounts, but shes 83 years old so it has become a little difficult for her to get around. So she started letting him with drawl living money and such, so the bank tellers than got to know him. He than started to with drawl large sums of money at a time. It's really sad that he would do that to her. We're saving to buy an english bull dog. They are very costly so its gone to be alot of saving. I still cannot believe that I am actually gone to pay over a thousand dollars for a dog..

I am currently saving just to have more....to spend! LOL. I agree with you to live for the moment and just spend (but in moderation) cos we really can't bring all the money and material things we have when we die, right? Anyways, I'm saving to buy the new LV speedy and for the down payment of the townhouse that I'm planning to buy with my mom. Good luck with that plan. LOL. Cheers!

Yes, I do save some money every month for my pension. You do not get much to live on by the time you retire from work. Even if you do get some, it is not much. And prices raises, but the pension do not. I think it is wise to save some of your money. I also save some for my driving license, It is expensive and you need a lot, If you want the license fast. I also save some for my son on a bank account.

I have additional money taken out each week to add to my pension fund as well. THis is all done through work, but the best part about it is it is all done before taxes. so when they figure the taxes out after that I still bring home about the same amount of money that I would if I wasn't having that money taken out. so it's basically a win/win situation

I definitely save money. In fact, I never use credit cards. I have a car loan, but that's ok. I do use my Lowe's card sometimes. But almost everything I get, I have saved for. I started that long ago. I do have a savings account for emergencies, though. I mean, when you own a house, you kind of have to. You never know when you might need emergency work done on it; or the car repairs. I definitely think saving is worth it.

But you do not save every dollar do you. To the point that saving your money consumes you? I agree that we should all try and save some money, but to remember to still have fun and gets things that you want.

yeah i agree with you. at least buy something instead of saving and saving then others would just spend it without your knowledge. it would really make me mad and maybe transform myself into a monster if that happens on me lol but of course, be practical before buying some things that you like

I don't think there is much point in saving just for the sake of it but it is good to save a bit if you can just in case you need it some time. I'm trying really hard to save enough to take my kids on holiday. I've got about £30 so far! Every time I think I can put a bit more aside, I find one of use needs shoes or something. We will get our holiday one day, even if it means saving pennies for the next 30 years!

I'm currently saving for a vacation this summer. We are taking the kids to Disney's Magic Kingdom here in Florida. After the vacation I am going to save to get some bills paid off for a little while and then start saving for another vacation. I think saving money is a good idea and am trying to teach my kids that. Once we are debt free I am going to start saving for retirement, because I would like to be able to enjoy life when I retire and not have to continue working all of the time. Keep saving for your puppy! You will get there!

Yeah I think if the saved money is invested. this gonna bring more money and more poeple is gonna get benefit from that money. Saving dollar by dollar is a rediciolous job. Its a waste of time.

I am a very thrift person, so I am saving my money. Right now, the only money I have is what I have in my Paypal account, so to avoid temptations, I just leave the money there. I am saving up for my birthday -- I will be 28 next month, and I am hoping to spend it out of town in a beach resort.

Right now for me it's so hard to save for anything. I have a lot of bills and back bills that need to be paid. That's about the only think I can save for anymore. Get one paid and that's one off my list, but the list seems neverending. The only money I really save is change I get from work or from stores. That's terrible that your grandma's second husband went out and did that. That was her hard earned money and took her so long to save and for someone to just come in and spend it all is just unforgivable. The only way I'd save any money is to get an IRA or something so I can live comfortably when I get to retirement age which is like 40 years from now.

i would love to be able to save for any reason but at this point all our money goes for debt we have incurred. i am trying really hard to get us out of the credit card debt so hopefully when we are caught up i will be able to save one day. once i am able to save i will just be saving to have more money tucked away for emergencies and such.
