I've seen the word in a religious text, but I don't have a clue what it is about.

I am a Wiccan and it is a religin, but it is also a way of life. Like said above it is bad we worship the same God as everyone else but we also beliebe that God has a mate she is the Goddess. We worship the verty thing that gave us live and gives us food. That is Earth or also nature. We are very loving people who only want to live in harmony with everyone else. Nothing more nothing less. We use witchcraft as our way of getting things we need, like Christians use prayer to get the things they need. Wiccans just use herbs and candles to do it. Do we dance naked under the moon? Yes if we want to. Do we slauter animals for rituels? Heck NO, we are animal lovers. We only kill for food not sport, but with the supermarkets today we dont even have to kill at all. Just go to the stor and buy our steaks or ham to have for dinner. We want what everyone else wants........Peace, and to be able to practice and worship without being accused of being evil and worshiping Satan. Trust me the people who really DO worship Satan dont want anything to do with us because we are piecefull and loving. Hope this helps.

Here are some links that I think are informative without being too biased: http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_intr.htm http://www.xploreheartlinks.com/wicca.htm http://www.religionfacts.com/wicca/terminology.htm There are different branches of Wicca, some of them claiming to follow a Celtic tradition. I am not an expert though I know a number of Wiccans.

No, Satanists are very different! The Wiccan philosophy is to do no harm. They worship a horned god who is NOT Satan (though Satan is sometimes represented with horns). The Horned God of Wicca is a very old god, much older than most other religions - certainly older than Judaism (from which the tradition of Satan arose).

Not sure I can ask this on here, but here it goes. Do they follow Satan? In the meantime I'll look at your recommendations. Thanks!

The same herbs you cook with are the main herbs we use in our rituels. The only diffrence is we just know of more than just cooking. We are the nicest people you will ever meet because all we want is to live in harmony with everyone else.

We don't have any wiccans here where I live. Haven't heard of any in the county. Maybe your not a large group yet. If all were like you, wars would be a thing of the past. Thanks for answering.

jolie, you might want to try going to witchvox.com. If there are any Wiccan/Pagan groups in your area you will most likely find them listed there. They also have may informative articles you may find interesting. As for information regarding Wicca itself, see if your local library has any books by Scott Cunningham. He is one of the first authors I discovered when I started on my path, and I still think one of the best. Blessed Be

Wiccan is the religion practiced by witches. Not the old scarey witches in fairy tales..but real life spiritual witches.
